Apparently the car service that shall not be named without eight asterisks appearing (Your Ride) has merged with this company. Does anyone have any information on Basik Shuttle? The contact person now answering e-mails and confirmations is very efficient, but I'd like to know if anyone has any personal experience.

Thanks!

I am also wondering about Basik Shuttle having used ******** for the the last 4 trips to Orlando, including a pick up from Airport to Port Canaveral and back. I have been very satisfied with their services. In addition to transportation to and from the airport, we have also used them for day trips to Universal on 3 ocassions. Tess, you are correct about the efficiency of Beth. I hope the service does not change...if anyone has used them since the merger, please advised, I used ******** this past November and the service was great. Thank you.

There is no price list on their website...that bothers me. I contacted them for a quote...MCO to AKL. I was quoted $90.00 + $4.00 airport surchange, plus all tolls that were not specified, +tip. So you are looking at $105.00+ and you don't know how much the additional tolls are or could be!...I'll pass. I would prefer to have a flat rate...I don't like the surcharge + tolls etc...etc... That is why I passed on Happy Limo. I'm sticking w/ www.transportation2disney.com. I've heard nothing but good things too!

I did look at the "Basik" website and I see what you mean. That would cause me concern that there are no prices listed.

The service person I've been in touch with did differentiate between the eight asterisk company and Basik in that we have the fixed price we were originally quoted ($90 r/t to MK resort), grocery stop, and the meet and greet feature that Basik appears to charge extra to provide.

I am kind of curious why the merge? :confused:

I also used the "other" company that Basik merged with. Was very happy with them so I called for our upcoming trip. Spoke with Beth. I requested getting to the port early so we could take our time, look around at things etc before boarding. I know they don't let you on the ship until 12 or after. However, I was told by Basik that we could not be dropped off until 11:30 which I was surprised at. I asked why, they told me commercial vehicles had to wait until 11:30 due to the tightened security. I was surprised, called Disney, they knew nothing about it-so I am calling the port authority to make sure if we arrive early we can get in the gate. I wondered if it was this particular transportation service only or all. I called another and they told me they could drop us off any time we wanted--????????????

Sounds misleading to me!!!!

I did get a flat quoted rate with no surcharges. However, I reserved before the merger.

I used Basik and had no problems back in 2002. They took my flight number and were waiting for us when we arrived at MCO. I found their price to be fair compared to everybody else. We were driven from MCO to Port Canaveral. I can't remember the exact price but I'm guessing it was around $60 or $65 dollars. Again this was back in 2002. We chose to use a 15 passenger van which is probably their standard shuttle. (I don't know for sure)
If you wanted a Limo I believe they had those too. I would definitely use them again. I Hope this helps.:)

Here is an actual quote from Basik Shuttle that I just received for 2 adults/2 children. I chose my destination as All Star Music. I also inquired about the cost to Port Canaveral in case anybody is interested.

Basik Shuttle provides direct, nonstop, door-to-door service from the Orlando International Airport to Disney's All Star Music. We monitor your flight's arrival status so that if you encounter any delays en route, a driver will remain available for you. This is NOT a shared ride service. Your total fare for a party of 4 is $45.00, each way. This is a flat rate, NOT a per person charge. Please note that your fare does not include the $4.00 airport arrival's access fee (per vehicle), tolls, or the driver's gratuity.

For your friend going to Port Canaveral, the fare would be $80.00, one way. This is a flat rate good for up to a party of 4. If there are more than 4 in the party, the rate will change.

To book this fare, please provide the following information:

* All passengers names
* Travel dates
* Complete airline information including airlines, flight numbers, and arrival/departure times. Inbound Amtrak passengers should provide train number and boarding point.
* Complete destination/origin details, including ship name, hotel name and location, or residential address
* Credit card number WITH expiration date and complete billing address for card
* Telephone number to reach you the evening prior to travel for confirmation purposes.

If you prefer, you may call our office at the numbers listed below to complete your reservation. Please have the above information ready when you call. We respect your privacy. All information provided is held in the strictest confidence. We do not sell or publish your contact details.

NOTE: This quote is valid for 72 hours only. After this time period, the rate is subject to change until booked.

Thank you for choosing Basik Shuttle.

That is pretty much the same quote I got. I don't like the addition of the airport surcharges and unnamed tolls...that's the same stuff Happy Limo does...post a price...a flat rate so you know what you are dealing with. Beth seemed pleasant & very profession but give me a price already!

Our confirmation was a bit different:

*** Rates & Charges ****
Basic Rate 45.00
TOTAL DUE 45.00

Your travel details are enclosed. Please note that unless otherwise specified, your driver's gratuity is not included. For domestic passengers, we will contact you the evening prior to travel between 6:00 and 8:00pm Eastern time to reconfirm your reservations. Thank you for choosing Basik Shuttle/Your Ride Transportation.

There are separate confirmations for both legs of the transport. No mention of fees and tolls although it does speak to the gratuity being extra.

::MinnieMo As I mentioned earlier, I have been very happy with the "other" company's service and drivers on past trips and will use them again this tirp. I spoke with Beth of Basik and received a quote for a trip in September. We're staying at the Willderness Lodge and the rate for 3 adults round trip is a flat rate of $90.00 with a 30-minute supermarket stop plus the $4.00 airport charge (something new, i have never paid that before). The rate is the same rate I paid when I was down there in November '03. I inquired about tolls, etc. confirm that that are no other fees other than the gratuity each way. They are getting ready for a price increase soon, this may explain why there are no prices quoted on the web site, I am just guessing. princess:
