Has anyone heard anything about this layoff?

Getting rid of experienced workers will bite them on the backside.

This is one of my pet peeve with some corporations just to save a small buck. It is a constant cycle that I see in a lot of large corporations. They will hire a bunch of domestic employees then lay them off to hire foreign employees then lay them off because of lack of corporate synergy then hire domestic employees again. You constantly lose talent and it is a poor management decision to try and reach a short term goal. Honestly, I really think that is all Disney is trying to do lately is think only short term and I have lost respect for the company over the years.

I still enjoy their product but I do not respect their management at all.

I kind of hope something does blow up in their face, which is sad. But if they are laying off people in this manner, it is just karma.

Karma indeed. I am not sure how the people that made this decision can look at themselves in the mirror.

Just because it is offshored/outsourced doesn't mean the job will be done poorly or with less security. As an individual who oversees a team in India but work in the US, the employees I have in India are highly dedicated, very accurate and honestly are just as valued as the onshore employees I work with.

One huge benefit of offshoring and outsourcing is being able to follow the sun, keeping oversight and employees to work in the day hours here in the US but have a balance (which does mean less US employees) with employees in India to work our evenings. This allows us to have multiple shifts while keeping costs in check (which is a benefit for customers and investors).
