Has anyone had to buy luggage at Disney?

If you had to purchase a suitcase (for whatever reason) in Orlando is it cheaper at the airport or in Downtown Disney?

I have seen folks buy suitcase at the outlet mall. They sell them yhere but I do not know the prices.

When you go to the Outlet over by Little Lake Bryan, there are people hauling around new suitcases all the time. I would think the Outlets would be cheaper.

I know that the suitcases in the resorts are usually pretty pricey, especially Disney themed ones.

You can probably save a lot of money by ordering a suitcase or duffel from Amazon and paying for fast shipping.

That's a great idea or I would take that shipping money and take a cab to Super Wal-Mart over on Polynesian Isle Blvd. It's not too far and you'll see in front of you what you want. Luggage on property or the airport will be expensive. The outlets may have seconds that will burst a zipper on the way home.

What about shipping stuff home in a couple of flat rate boxes?

What size? One time I bought one to many souvenirs but i did the duffle bag because did spend so much:) I still use that rolling duffle bag on small trips:)

You can also check the local drug stores. I purchased a large rolling duffel at the Walgreens on I Drive by the Prime Outlet mall for around $20. I was surprised to find luggage in a drug store but the checkout clerk told me most of the drug stores around WDW carry luggage.

we've purchased at the outlet there-excellent quality (and very low prices). if you're asking before leaving on a trip you can do what we've gotten into the habit of doing. our suitcases are the type that store one in another so we take one and put it inside the next larger then pack it to travel. that way if we don't need it we're not paying to schlep an extra suitcase but if we do we're not spending to buy another.

now-depending on how close you are (if traveling by air) to your luggage limits, seeing how much some of the carriers charge for being so much as one over your limit:faint::faint: I have in the past packaged up stuff from our suitcases that I know we don't immediately need when we get home-and mailed them back home (there's the business centers at wdw you can use so you don't have to go off property).

I've bought suitcases all over the place when on vacation, except overseas. The easiest thing to do (provided you are not already there) is to take a flatpack duffel from Walmart. We have at least 4 of those, and never paid more than $12 for one. I do have to admit, though, I adore the hibiscus print carry-on I bought when we went to Hawaii.

We have had to buy extra lugage due to over spending. We've gone to one of the Walmarts and purchased it, seems to be the cheapest option. Now I always pack an extra duffle bag.

We did this a few years ago when one of our suitcases got damaged by the airline. With Amazon prime it was delivered to our resort in two days.

Ahh, this brings back memories, bad memories. My suit case zipper was killed in transit, but I didn't notice it until we were at the condo. Luckily we had a car and bought a complete three piece luggage set at BJs for $90. The next trip, the airline broke the zipper on the largest bag. Despite filing a claim, all I got was four free drinks. They don't cover zippers. (No, they were not over stuffed. I think the problem was the style of TSA approved locks I was using.) I refused to buy more luggage. Instead, i bought a roll of duck tape and taped that baby closed.
We looked at the outlets and Wally-World as well as the Disney store before purchasing luggage after the first mishap. Prices were scary.

outlet stores usually don't carry seconds: some carry the exact items as their brand store but for less, some carry previous seasons, and some carry merchandise specifically made for their outlet stores. our purchases from the Samsonite outlet, store, the Samsonite website, and macy's have been identical.
btw, we did look at the duffles/luggage in that Walmart. while we purchase groceries, etc, there, I would highly recommend going to the outlet instead :) .

Point taken, learn something everyday.

We paid $120 for a suitcase at Pop last trip. :scared:
That's the sale price on a TravelPro!

I can't say that I've ever had to purchase while traveling, but if it were to break on the way down, I'd just order from Macy's or Amazon or eBags or similar and have it shipped direct to the hotel. I'm picky about my luggage, and don't buy something as a temporary throw-away just to have a bag, I get exactly what I want (and then use the heck out of it, which is why I'm picky).

We have had to buy luggage due to overpurchases in the past. I am the proud owner of 2 WDW duffle bags purchased fairly cheaply at MouseGears, WOD, etc.

In California, we went to the luggage store at the outlet mall. They had a fairly large carry-on (tote style) for sale for $9.99 with ANY purchase. So we purchased photo inserts to put in your wallet for $1.99 and added the tote to our order. I packed it full of dirty clothes and checked in through. There was not way to secure the zipper, so we didn't put anything of significant value in it.

We had a luggage mishap in the Orlando airport on Spring Break. I can tell you that the cheapest carry-on size available in the airport was $90, cheap quality and ugly. We went with the tape option and later stopped by a Bealls Outlet ;)

I had to buy a large duffle bag at the All-Star Movies gift shop and it was 65 dollars in 2006. Can't imagine what it would be now. I overspent on souvenirs (slaps own hand). And then it turned out I didn't need it. The check-in guy at MCO was sure he could pack my bags so that I would only need two and not have to pay the extra baggage fee, and he proceeded to open my luggage right there on the floor and efficiently pack the stuff from my new duffel into my other two bags.
