It's been almost a month since I enrolled and paid for membership online and I have yet to receive my card. I sent an e-mail inquiry last Monday and they finally sent me an e-mail back on Friday, apologizing and stating that they would send a temporary card.

I got my temp card today with an 8 digit handwritten membership number. . .I tried to log into the AAA website with it and the website states that I need a 9 digit membership number.

I've sent another e-mail but surely it shouldn't be this difficult to join!

I had absolutely no trouble signing up for AAA but I didn't use an online registration, I just used an old fashioned telephone :)

Hope you get this straightened out soon.

I had no trouble joining AAA either. I just went to there office and apply.

We didn't have any trouble either but we also joined via the telephone.:D

AAA is great for getting maps, and you certainly want them there if you need them, but some of their customer relations stuff really stinks. I know I always seem to have trouble navigating their site. You can get trip tiks on line now, but I wanted some additional maps and it wouldn't let me do that. So I thought I would be smart and go to the local office. Well, all the guy did was type in some information and said I would get my package in 3 weeks. The whole point of going to the office was to avoid the big package.

Like I said, they are a great resource, but sometimes I just have to wonder...

Thanks for the responses. I've learned my lesson. It is NOT always easier to just do it online. ;)

had no trouble signing up online, was reallly happy with thier service

I have joined by mail and in a AAA office.
The only problems I am running into a rather minor now.
We lived in Nebraska, so were under AAA Nebraska.
Reasonable so far, right? ;)
Well find out for whatever reasons AAA NE had three accounts set up for the two of us.
We moved to FL, and I went to the AAA office to change address. I was told in the NE and Kissimmee (sp?) FL offices that our NE membership would transfer to FL. (We renew by November '04.)
I received a new FL AAA card in the mail.
Not DH.
I called the AAA 800 number yesterday. I was told just the opposite of what the two offices told me.
Long story -- but at least we are covered by AAA. It's between the two offices to duke it out if we require their towing services. ;)
I have a AAA FL card. DH has a AAA NE card.
