I am wondering if anyone has someone check in for someone else and how that went?

Is it best to include a possible check-in person's name on the reservation?

Room ressies are non transferable and so I don't think someone else can check you in unless the ressie is in their name. Of course, a phone call to the specific resort would be the best idea to make sure and they might allow it if they are ;listed on the ressie as one of the guests. I read here a couple of days ago that someone tried to check in to their Disney resort and since his name was spelled differently on his credit card than it was on the ressie, they gave him a really hard time! I would call the front desk at your resort, speak to a manager and explain the situation. Be sure you get their name so if someone checks you in and they give them a hard time they can quote the manager by name .

We transferred our ASSp room to my brother. The room wasn't full, so they just added his name to the ressie. The CM said I won't have to be there for him to check in. (We got a waitlisted room at SoG/CR, and we can always pop over if he has a problem.)

I would be highly surprised if they did it any other way. If you can put the person's name on the ressie along with yours?

The only way to have someone else check in for you is to have their name added to your reservation. Now if you have 2 adults in the room already, adding a 3rd adult will incur an extra night charge, not worth it in my opinion to have someone else check in for you. When I checked into the VWL in July, I was asked for picture id.

It depends on the CM at the desk.

Very often, my husband is unable to join us for the whole visit. I tell the desk when I check in...give them his name, etc. and when I expect him to arrive. Sometimes they give him his key, sometimes they don't! Once it was just luck that we came back before he had to wait too long. Since then, I've always planned on being back at the resort to meet him.

I also checked in two friends who were sharing a condo with us at BWV...however, it was under my name, and I just gave their names to the clerk. I was unpacking in the villa a few hours later when they arrived with a bellman and their own keys.

We did. In Dec 2000 we were staying at the FQ with my mom, grandma, sister and her husband and kids and then us(three different rooms). My moms flight got in 2 hours early. She and my grandma were able to get room keys for all three rooms and make sure we got connecting rooms. I'm not sure if she was on my sisters ressie, but I now she was not on ours. I asked her how she did it, she said she begged and they gave them to her. She also was able to arrange the rooms so they were next to each other because when she checked in they were not, even though we had requested to be near each other. This was back in 2000 and things may have changed now but its always possible. Good luck.
