Has anyone had Disney cancel ADRs?

I have a common name and if Disney just randomly cancels my ressie because there is another "Jane Doe" (or whatever) eating at the same time at a different location I will be super pissed.

Ever since they reinstated the DDP this has been happening. Before this I NEVER had issues making ADR's and now its like everythings turned into CRT.

Personally, I think Disney should turn EVERY restaurant with ADR's into the same sytem as CRT or HDDMR, where you have to leave a credit card deposit. That would make people think twice before making multiple reservations.

It would probably make people think twice before making any reservations. CRT and HDD require payment in full at the time of reservation. Unless the reservation is cancelled outside the window given for cancellation (I think it's 48 hours but I could be wrong), you're out the entire cost of the meal if you don't show up. If every WDW restaurant did that, I think more would spend the money on a rental car and eat offsite.

I totally agree with that!!!

Me, too. You wouldn't believe how many Cool Beans there are in the phone book!

When I lived in a big suburb, there were two on my street alone!!!

My name isn't common but it'd be fun to have an ADR cancelled because my brother happened to marry somebody with my first name.

Now I am starting to get worried that my niece's princess dinner is going to get cancelled because her mom and I have the same name and are going to different restaurants.

Plus, last year, they sent me a list of my ADRs a few weeks before our arrival date. (Haven't seen one this year though)

When you received the list, was it for a Grand Gathering? Just curious as we received a listing of all of our ADR info last year yet have not heard anyone else receiving ADR info from Disney. As I said, just curious. :upsidedow

Are the reservations linked to your phone number and hotel confirmation number (if staying onsite)? If so, I would think they couldn't cancel reservations just because they have the same name. I'm very new to planning the Disney Vacations myself (doing my first one this year) so I am not sure.

I can see the pro's and con's about Disney automatically cancelling double booked ADR's though.

Well, there are good and bad things to this. In one way, I think, people having double bookings could alleviate some of the congestion. Imagine if every single person showed up for a seating-it would be a lot more crowded.
Also, if they are going to do this, I think they should have 4 seatings because it is true that I might eat a late lunch (which would fall under dinner) and then want to eat a late dinner-or even just get a dessert somewhere.
I can see why they are doing it though. I know a lot of people probably over book. I can't imagine the task of looking through all those reservations, though. They should at least contact you to determine if you have a legitimate reason for double booking.

Last trip 3 of us wanted to lunch at Chefs and 3 at Teppanyaki. (we were a party of 6). The CM had me make one reservation in my name and the other in a name from the other group so that it would not look like duplicate ressies. She said if I made them both in my name , one would be cancelled.

We've done this several times for a large grouop wihtout booking under two names. I always go through an agent though. Might be different if you call disney directly.

I think it would be more likely that they would take a CC as a guarantee. If you don't show, they would charge a predetermined amount. It wouldn't be possible to charge in advance for a la carte restaurants.

I haven't seen anyone answer that they have had an ADR canceled yet in this thread. I am wondering if Disney is really carrying out this policy, or just saying they are carrying out this policy?

Thats what I was wanting to know when I started this thread.

Sounds like nobody has had it done to them yet.....maybe just idle threats from Disney...??

Ahhhh, yes, maybe that was why, because last year there was 8 of us, it was a grand gathering, and this year there is just the 4 of us. (Except a few days with 8, but we haven't done any of it under grand gatherings).
Thanks for clearing that up for me, I was so confused!!:thumbsup2

A few monthes back, there were people posting who actually had both ADRs cancelled due to "double booking."

I had a very snippy CM one time who said, "Well, you know, we are going to cancel both of your (ressies) if you do this..." I was calling because I had changed my mind about where to eat one night, yet obviously wanted to make sure I could book the one we wanted BEFORE cancelling the other one all in the same call. I, for one, could never bring myslef to "double book." There are just too many people keeping their fingers crossed hopingfor ADRs!

I agree, this thread is to find out if this has verifiably happened yet. I am not sure if anyone would know yet without having a lot of people try and confirm their ADR's, other than that I guess we'll all find out when we get to our reservations and they tell us we don't have a reservation. I really really hope that this is not the case because I have a grand gathering that is at one point 16 people, 11, and then 9, plus we also have some friends that are staying offsite and I am the lead planner of the grand gathering so I have all the ressies in my name, some of the parties being split at different locations on the same nights. I really hope this doesn't happen. I confirmed them on Friday afternoon and they were all still there. I'm going to cross my fingers though.

As Albertan mom and I mentioned above, you *should* receive a listing of all of your ADR info in the mail from Disney since you are planning a Grand Gathering. :upsidedow

This is the 2nd grand gathering I've planned and until Friday when I confirmed all the reservations by phone I had no clue they even did this. I actually have one on the way, but I still have multiple bookings that I hope don't get inadvertently cancelled. Disney isn't very forthcoming with the things they offer to the people in grand gatherings. I just found out about the good morning gathering and the other dinners they offer just for gg.

We have "double-booked" two nights. We are meeting friends (who live in Florida) for dessert/drinks. Both nights at Kona. One is booked 2 hours after
Crystal Palace. The other about 21/2 hours after Spoodles. I didn't think this would be a problem. I thought finding a table for my party of 6 and her party of 6 would be too hard without an ADR. What should I do? Can they note this on my ADR's like they note birthdays, etc. Some of us are celebrating birthdays, as already noted on our ADRS. Would this make a difference or not? I have already ordered cakes and everything!

Even if you have a common name, I don't think you need to worry too much. It's been my impression that Disney treats us like branded cattle, not people. We are known as our reservation number or home phone number, not our name. Hello, my name is 24980734.

As for double bookings, I agree that Disney should call before they cancel reservations. I have a dinner reservation at Le Cellier for 4:10 and I am treating it as a late lunch. Later that night, I have the last time slot at WCC. I fully intend to eat at both because well, I am a pig. That was the ONLY Le Cellier seating available for our entire trip and there was no other night that we could fit WCC into our schedule.

There is another night where I have 2 restaurants booked. The second ADR is for Desert only because I NEED to try that grapefruit cake! I told the reservations agent that we would only be there for dessert. If my ADR gets cancelled because the agent forgot to note this, I will be pretty darn mad.

I agree that Disney should do something about those who abuse the system. However, I imagine there are many of us out there that do have what could appear to be double bookings, and we are NOT abusing the system.
