Has anyone had a cancel a trip at the last minute?

We are scheduled to leave tomorrow, but DS (2) has a high fever and respiratory infection and his doctor has advised us not to travel. I have not even looked at cancellation policies. I booked through WDW Travel and bought their trip insurance. All my papers for the trip are at home and I am at work, so I was wondering if anyone has had to cancel last minute, and what youe experience has been like -- am I out the entire amount, or just a cancellation fee, has anyone had good/bad experiences as far as collecting on trip insurance?

I so don't want to cancel, but I hate to go against doctor's advice and/or put DS's health at risk!

I happen to have a copy of my confirmation here, the back shows their cancellation policies - here's the info that applies to you:

* For a cancellation made 5 days or less prior to arrival, there is a cancellation fee of $200 per package plus any cancellation fees assessed by hotels or other suppliers. No refunds will be given for no-shows.
* Travel insurance is nonrefundable once deposit has been received. Upon any cancellation, the charge for Travel Insurance will be added to the other applicable cancellation fees.
* If you cancel, amounts paid, minus cancellation fees and other amounts owed, will be promptly refunded.

for the record, this applies only to packages. If you've booked room only, there's a different cancellation policy, but I don't know exactly what it is.

Try calling CRO, use their 1-800 number - they may have a good recommendation for you (moving the dates rather than cancelling altogether?)

I had a room only reservation and canceled the night before we were to leave. They waived the one night deposit fee and refunded the entire amount to us. My son was in an accident and was on a respirator to breath. Not didn't have to do it, but they did and it was very nice of them. The airline also waived the ticket change fee too. We did not have insurance on our reservation since it was a room only and not a package.
