Has anyone gotten the same exact room on another visit without asking for it?

I recently spent one week at "home", OKW, and was assigned a unit I think I stayed in before. I know for sure it was the same building, #52.

The unit (5225) was fine but I really don't like that location. I don't use the buses and I hate the fact that they turn around in that parking lot. My porch overlooked nothing but trees.

For my next visit I think I'm going to make a request NOT to be assigned out in the boon-docks of OKW. Now I know why so many of you do make specific requests. With a ressie made 11-months in advance I should get a better location or at least something different.

Other than that, the vacation was wonderful and the OKW staff was great. Everyone was friendly and helpful.

Yes, the first time we stayed at OKW I requested buildings 42 43,44,45. We got assigned 4321-a 1 bedroom. This past June we were checking in(no requests made this time) and we were assigned room 4321. On our first trip, I had remarked that I would always remember the room #, b/c it was 4321,so when we were told that was our room the second time, it was pretty funny.

Getting the same room is pure coincidence (it has happened to us once in the past) but your experience shows the wisdom of making requests.

We requested building 55 once and got it three times in a row We did not mind but only asked for it once. The last time when we checked in the room the floor was all wet from the tub leaking. They moved us into another building so they can fix the leak. I went to the CM at checking and my request for building 55 was on record, she had a tough time removing it. We drive down and like 55 but wanted something different in order to see OKW better.

On my first two trips to OKW, the only reguests we made was for a non smoking room and on an upper floor. We did not request location or building number or anything that would restrict our location. Both times they put us in the exact same room, and it was on the first floor. Since then we have stayed in different areas of the resort. We never request location or building number and so far have not been disapointed.

1611 - four times now. We love it there and know that we were plain lucky. We always request that area but last two visits had 15 and 17. You can tell we are old timers as we love the original buildings.

the same building yes - 18 (I love this one), 55 (pretty good), 36 (I didn't like this one), 41 (okay). I have a real problem with 36 for some reason they kept putting me in this building - 4 times in a row - before I started saying DO NOT PUT me in 36 - the front desk wanted to put me there again this time before I say 55 would be fine.

Niagara2 I agree I like the older building better - the rooms are little bigger or they seem to be - the setup is surpose to be better in the newer building more access to the master bath - but I love building 18.

I have not been able to get in it for the past 3 years or anything on Miller road - what is your secret?

We are new members. Been to OKW twice in 2001--- 8 days in April/May and 11 days in October. We just asked for non-smoking, somewhat near a pool, and somewhat near a bus stop.

We got the exact same room--so we are 2 for 2!

It was fine for us. Actually, it made the trip a little more special. When we got to the room, our 3 year old daughter had a funny look on her face. She recognized the location, etc. She announced (with a big grin), that Mickey had her room ready at her "Disney Home". You see, she thinks that it is HER VERY OWN "Disney Home"--and that is what she calls it.

I tried to tell her that someone else was going to use the unit when we were done--she just didn't get it. I didn't try explaining it any further--some things should just remain "magical"....

The only thing that we ever request is a non-smoking room. But after our last trip to OKW, I might have to make one additional request for the benefit of my MIL. More often than not we end up with a 3rd floor room. I love the view, but my MIL will disown me if we don't start asking for rooms on the 1st and 2nd floors. She finds it difficult to climb the stairs at the end of a long day at WDW. I was surprised that we were put on the 3rd floor this year since I assumed that MS knew that we were travelling with a senior citizen (please don't tell Nana that I called her that).

I guess that I'm afraid to make the request because I don't want it to be in their computers forever.

In five visits to OKW, we've been in five different buildings, and mostly in the 47-53 range.

spiceycat - why didn't you like 36? Just wondering because this is one of the buildings I have requested for next May. We have stayed on Peninsular on both of our 2 trips and I requested Turtle Pond for next year (1 bedroom).

We just returned from OKW yesterday :( , and stayed in 4225, which we had last May also. We've also been in 4321 twice in a row. Of course, our preferences always include "Building 42-43-44", and with about 25 visits so far, we're bound to get some repeats :)

the view was golf (I asked for water) - they were always putting us on the bottom floor and since everything was overgrown it was dark. we did not have this problem in 18 (my favor) or 41 (in the same location but not overgrown and this had a water view), I also like 55 (this view is great - you can see the boat going to DD and there is a quiet pool really close). Also one of the reason for staying at Turtle Pond was the snack bar - she was opened noon to 3pm - not exact prime hours.

You experience maybe completed different - you may love 36.

I am also a walker - I walk the resort in the morning - this is a hill (not a great one but it is one) and I only like hills after I have warned up first thing in the morning not a good experience.

Also when we stayed there this was the last stop on the bus - I think this is now changed? So the bus wait was very long - we only took the bus to the MK, every where else I drove.

We always request the same building and as a result have had the same unit 4 out of 7 times, the kids were thrilled they truly felt they were home ( so did DH and I).

We had building 25 3 times and building 19 twice. We've never had the same room though......spruce

We have often had the same room at HH!
In fact when we called one time The HH front desk asked Member Services if we wanted our usual room!

Since DH is in a w/c the odds of getting the same handicapped accessible room increases our odds!

Hope everyone has a Merry Christmas!

Linda
