Has anyone gone really last minute?

Depending on my DH's deployment/TDY/training schedule we are HOPING to go May 8-18. We will probably only have about a week's notice at best before we'll know for sure. I've been looking around at Windsor Hills primarily and found several places open that week. My question is what am I looking at paying for last minute. I assume I'd have to pay the booking in full? Any hidden fees tacked on usually? Has anyone booked a super rate when booking last minute?

We booked 48 hours before last week and got DTD Hilton for $129. on the Hilton web site.

The Wyndham Bonnet Creek resort is cheaper as you get closer. There are lots of people who have a have made a business selling reservations there. Look on eBay, read the "we love bonnet creek" thread and the last-minute reservations on Tugbbs.com. I would expect to pay around $100 a night for a 2 bedroom to stay there.

definitely gone last minute - but own a timeshares so got getaway weeks from Rci or II - for under $200 for a 1-bedroom for the week.

have NOT done this recently.
