Has anyone gone 1st week of Dec?

We are going Dec 6-8 2005 and was wondering, I have done research, but wanted to see if this is a good week to go. I read that the 1st week of December is the best time to go, because not very crowded.

Anyone gone this week? If so, how are the wait times for the attractions? Give me some examples. THANKS!!

Yes, as far as I'm concerned, that week is the best time to go. The crowds are minimal and Christmas decorations are up. The weather is also still nice. You'll still need to look at the best/worst days to go to the parks to avoid waits. There have been times where we did not wait for anything the first week in December, but if you go to MK on a Monday, for example, you'll wait for some of the rides. That's been my experience anyway.

Thanks QT Pooh for the info! Yeah, I have read that about MK on Mondays. We are actually going to Epcot on Tuesday and MK on Wednesday. I am praying that we have no wait times! We aren't staying long, so I want to be able to see everything in one day at each park!

My family plus 3 other familys are going this year Dec.2 - Dec.9. 13 people total, staying at CS.

We will be there the first week of December as well, third through the tenth.

We were there last year at that time and it was great!!!
Take a wide variety of clothes though. One day we went to the park in shorts and tee shirts. Ran back to the hotel to get jeans and long sleeves.
I remember riding TTA ducking down behind the seat to keep the wind off my arms. Brrrr.....

Next day it was warm again. And we played minature golf and sweated like we were in the tropical rain forrest it was so humid/hot.

We just changed our plans to the first week in Dec, we havn't gone this late in the year before so am planing on some cooler weather, hope we can still ski and parasail

Been then twice before. Its a great time to go because crowds are farily low and the Christmas decs are magnificent (Osbourne lights are awesome).

One word of warning, MK and MGM will be busy on Saturdays....go to Epoct on that day.

If we could justify taking our 14 year old out of school for a week (which we can't), we would go the week after Thanksgiving every year. It is a GREAT time to go! Enjoy!!!

I've been considering this week to go too, and in fact almost ended up going this same time myself this year. But in considering whether to do so, I posted on this board during that week in December 2004, asking how crowded it was. I was a little surprised with the response. Is this not the POP Warner week? I am going to be there that week and just heard about all the kids. Anybody know how bad the parks will be? I know most the hotels are pretty full. Thanks

We're going to be there the 1st-5th, and I believe Pop Warner week starts on the 4th. We were also there last year around the week of the 7th, and the crowds were really light. It was busier on the weekend, but I think that's often the case, regardless of the time of year. We'd never been for the holiday decorations, so that was neat...although the holiday music all the time in all the parks wore a bit on my nerves....but just a little!

The first week of December is my absolute favorite time of year to visit. The parks are not crowded at all. The decorations are amazing and MVMCP is always a lot of fun.

I am hoping on a long weekend in WDW in December.

I went during this time in 1998 and I'm going again this year Dec 9-12! It's a wonderful time to go! The weekend does get busier, but nothing compared to summer. The decorations and atmosphere is so festive, MVMCP is so much fun...it will really get you in the holiday spirit! Have a magical trip!

I've gone several times the first week of December since 1997. It's become increasingly crowded each year. Our rule of thumb is to stay out of the MK on Saturday. It's always a mob scene. Also be aware they usually close down MGM at 5-6pm on a day during that week for the Pop Warner kids. I'm waiting for the calendar to come out in a few weeks so I can find out what day that will be.

I do not think this is a low crowd week any more. DVC resorts have been sold out for the last 5 months in all sizes units.

And from what I hear it's not quite true that the resorts are sold out - in fact I talked with my TA yesterday and she said there would be no problem picking up the 12/2 date. In addition to the fact that some low weeks in the parks are high weeks at the disney vacation club resorts (because park attendance is low), Disney has apparently also insitituted a new way of blocking their room inventory, so you might look for 5 nights at a resort and not find it, but if you looked for 7 you would.

Still, I'm not expecting the really low attendance we see the week after Labor Day. We'll be using our normal strategies to beat the crowds until it's proved we don't need to.
