Has anyone flown with oxygen?

My dad got some very bad health news last week. He has been on oxygen for the past couple of months and will be for the rest of his lift. He has ISD and was told on Thursday that he has 4 to 6 months.

I know he is settling into this news right now & there is a lot we still don't know, but last night he called me and asked my dh and I to go with them to Hawaii. Mom has always wanted to go and he wants to do what he can while he can.

Hospice is likely in the near future, so the trip would have to happen pretty quickly. I've never had to make arrangements for oxygen on a flight (or at a destination city), so I am not sure how difficult this will be. He has a portable concentrator, but it is my understanding that can't be used on a plane and it can't be used while he's sleeping.

Any tips or suggestions are much welcome. This will have to all get clearance from his doctors, but if we get the okay, we want to make this happen.

I don't know about the flight part, but my grandma has COPD and has to use oxygen at night. All she has to do is call her oxygen provider in her destination city, they will deliver it to the hotel and leave it with bell services normally. We have done this in Vegas, WDW and when we travel to smaller places and rarely have any issues... And she always has her oxygen.

In general, your local supplier will help you with all the arrangements, including necessary prescriptions and arranging for oxygen delivery in Orlando. Many suppliers are part of a nationwide chain.
