Hi everyone! I posted this on the budget board, too - but after I did, I realized I probably should have posted it here.

I'm in Kentucky and am debating if we should drive or fly to WDW. We are very near several airports - Lexington, Louisville, and Cincinnati. Has anyone flown from any of these airports and which was the cheapest? I've searched all the sites like orbitz, hotwire, priceline, etc. and started a spreadsheet for prices, but it seems like they fluctuate so much.

Just wanted to see what prices some people were getting before we decided to drive the 12 hour trip each way. We're going in June.

Thanks in advance!

I would think that Louisville would be the cheapest, since they have Southwest that flies nonstop to Orlando. However I would not rule out Lexington or Cincinnati because you never know when the airlines might have a sale on flights out of one of those airports.

In my experience, I have flown several times between Richmond, VA and Kentucky and sometimes Louisville is cheaper, and sometimes Lexington is cheaper.

We always fly out of Louisville. I haven't ever seen a fare difference great enough for us to drive further. But we do live here, if you are between airports, it could make a difference to you.:)

Thank you all so much for your input! I'll most definitely keep an eye out for the fares in Louisville.

Have a great night! :goodvibes

I live 10 minutes from the Cinci airport and I have never heard of anyone getting cheap flights there. We fly out of Louisville or Indy.

We did get cheap airfare from CVG on Delta of all airlines.
Direct flight R/T $270 including all taxes. That was cheaper than driving to IND or even DAY on any of the cheaper airlines, especially during Easter break. Do I think it will happen again, probably not! I sure was glad I was able to pull it off this time!:cool1: :cool1: :cool1: :cool1: :cool1: :cool1: :cool1:

We got non-stop r/t flight on Delta for $249.50 total out of CVG for our upcoming May trip. My friend is flying home on a different day and got his for about $220. This was also non-stop r/t. These tickets were bought late Fec/ early March. Sorry I can't remember exactly when. I always buy on-line through delta's web-site. I check prices everyday. They usually change their prices at midnight. Best days tend to be Tues through Thurs. I also check to see how many seats are available. Even if the price goes up, if there are a lot of unsold seats, the price tends to go back down again. Once seats start to disappear prices go up and stay up. At least this is what I have seen.

I think we bought our tickets in Feb and it was on a Wed. The way gas prices are right now, ANYTHING under $300.00 is a good deal. :thumbsup2

That's for sure. I keep checking prices to Miami. The other day they were over $700. Now they are $390 total. It's with Comair but it is non-stop. Delta is relly cutting down on those flights. Just about everything heading to Florida is going through Atlanta these days.

I would use all the fair searche sites I can find priceline, orbitz, kayak, booking buddy and any other you can think of.

Search all your airports on different days and see what you get. I did that and saved 200 dollars for a family of 4 from the DC area.

I am also in Cincinnati. It is my understanding that CVG is the most expensive airport in the country. But, that being said, I'm keeping a close eye on rates over New Years and right now Delta at CVG is less than AirTran at Dayton by $75.

I am also debating whether I should just book or hold off. I'm thinking Holiday rates do nothing but increase over time.

Booking buddy is showing 285 out of CVG popcorn:: and 178 out of Louisville:cheer2:

Kayak.com is showing the same

thats 7 days leaving on an Tue and returing the next Tue. Midweek flights can be cheaper

CVG is the most expensive airport in the nation, as a recent story in the WSJ pointed out.

If you do happen to snag a great fare out of there or Louisville ($275-$300 tops), grab it!!!

I recently drove from Nashville to Indianapolis and then to Atlanta via the outskirts of Cincinnati, and it was a wonderful drive.

We are planning 2 weeks in Hawaii at Christmas. We have enough Freq Flyer miles for 2 free tickets and have to pay for 1. I am being a little picky on what city to connect into. I DO NOT want to fly out of ORD (Ohare) only because that time of year and delays. I prefer to connect out of DFW (Dallas) and then into HNL or OGG. Prices are around $900.00+. I am going to wait to see what happens. Hopefully, by Sept which should give me a good idea of what they will cost. :confused3

Delta and Southwest are pretty close in price sometimes out of Louisville and both have direct non stop flights (2 hours to Orlando)....:cool1:

We paid $125 for our roundtrip tickets on Delta on their website several weeks ago for this month.
