We usually fly out of JFK, but this trip we are flying Southwest to MCO from Long Island McArthur.

We have a 8:30 a.m. flight on a Monday morning. Being that this is a smaller airport, are there any recommendations on what time to arrive. We plan to check in online and pick up our boarding passes at a kiosk.

If we get there at 7 am, is that enough time?

Thanks

we fly islip to mco alllll the time!!

my best advice, for a monday morning, would be to get there no later than 6:30am... the security line can really back up (the airport is not as small or "underutilized" as you may expect... lots of business travelers) quickly... better safe than sorry!

also, a tidbit of advice... if you are planning to leave your car there, have the driver drop the rest of the travelers and all the luggage off at the curb to check in your luggage, and then the driver walk or take the shuttle back after parking... the walk is usually quicker than the shuttle!

Thanks! We are most likely getting a car service/taxi to the airport, but that's good advice.

We live 10 minutes from ISP and what a great "little" airport (and growing). If you live in the Town of Islip you can apply for a parking permit - $20 for one year, $35 for two years and you can park in the Residents Parking lot with the sticker. Saves us alot of money and time. Sometimes, DH drops me off at curbside with the luggage but we have parked and just walked over. 7:00 is more than enough time. The security line moves along fine and it just going up the escalator from there.

We also fly from Islip quite often. Much more convienent than JFK or LGA for us. I would plan on arriving between 6.30 and 7.00 if you are check any luggage. If the line for curbside check in looks long, have someone check to see what the line inside looks like. If you're not checking any luggage, arriving at 7.00 should be fine.

90 minutes to 2 hours is recommended on their website. We always fly out of Islip. You will wonder why you didn't switch sooner.:goodvibes

I've flown ISP to MCO a bunch of times and love it. It's so much better than driving all the way to NYC and the airport is smaller but not less equipped than any of the big airports. I would say to just get there 90 mins before the flight, plenty of time.

We love ISP. I agree--arrive 90 minutes before your flight. Enjoy your trip!
