Has Anyone Flown Into Ontario Airport Recently?

We'll be flying into Ontario Airport on a Saturday afternoon next month and I'm curious if anyone knows what traffic is normally like and what you paid for rideshare/taxi to DL.

Also, I've found old posts here that say the only rideshare available is Lyft, but the Airport has 4 listed. Can anyone confirm rideshare availability and pickup locations at ONT?

I normally use Uber, but their rates seem all over the place at ONT - quoting ~$60 one minute, and up to $200 the next! What gives??? The Lyft estimates have been slightly more consistent, but still some pretty significant fluctuations.

I'm seeing taxi rates at around $100, so would that be a reasonable amount to budget - and just take a taxi if rideshare rates end up being high when we land?

Watching with interest. I fly ONT because I have relatives in the area but I haven't used it for a Disney trip, primarily because of the cost of transport.

My understanding is that Uber is 'back' at ONT but I haven't flown in since before Covid AND family normally picks me up.

I priced a shuttle to DLR some time ago, but they were scarce as hen's teeth and it was unbelievably expensive. And rental cars were too through the roof (plus having to pay to park overnight at the Grand) just to rent at car to get there and back.

If you don't mind, could you post your actual experience afterwards? I really like ONT and it would be nice to be able to use it to combine a Disney trip with a visit to family.

It was about 3 years ago that I flew out of Ontario, so some things may be different. That being said, I remember our ride share driver telling us that we chose well going Anaheim to ONT on a weekday morning, as all the traffic was headed the other way. So afternoon heading the opposite way (ONT to Anaheim) *should* be easy.

Again, 3 years ago, I know we used Lyft, and it was around $40.

Regarding the price fluctuations, you're seeing "surge pricing". When there is high demand or less drivers, ride shares will increase prices. You have a few options when this happens. You can take a taxi, of course. Or you can wait a few minutes (like 10-15 minutes) and look up rates again. Surge pricing is REALLY variable, so it can be one price and 10 minutes later surge pricing is no longer going on, thus saving you $. Also, I know Lyft has offered me a discount for a little longer wait to be picked up. I think I saved $5 for waiting 5 or 6 minutes last month when I was heading back to my airport (LGB in that case). It doesn't always offer this option, but sometimes it does.

Ontario may well become an airport to use for budget flights between there and Europe, if the new airline, Norse Atlantic Airways, can make it a success. Guess time will tell.

Therefore, the price and availability of shuttles should be easier.

From your keyboard to God's monitor!!

I remember the days when 'SuperShuttle' was everywhere and had easy pick up at your home. Shared 'door to door' round trip rides were about $60.00. This was both for ONT and at SMF (my now local airport). Nowadays the prices are crazy!!

Will do! Maybe PM me with a reminder if you don't see anything here by the end of March!

Ah, Surge Pricing... that makes sense - because it didn't last.

I've never used Lyft before, but I suspect it'll be good to have them as a backup in case the Uber prices are too high.

I looked up prices yesterday afternoon (the day and time we're set to arrive 3 weeks from now) and prices were pretty consistently ~$60 to Ahaheim.... so that was a relief!

*Update*

Flew into ONT on Saturday afternoon and Uber was priced at $88 to DLR area, and Lyft was $68. Of course, chose Lyft. Fast pickup outside terminal 2. Ride took about an hour, as there was extra traffic.

This was our experience when we used it about a month ago too. I also had a backup one way car rental which ended up being the same price as 5 person Uber/Lyft (around 80 bucks) but it was a little insurance against surge pricing. The drop-off location was at Paradise Pier I believe.
