Has anyone flown Frontier?

my wife and kids were scattered with the common folk back in steerage :) many many rows behind me......
Does this mean the seats are just randomly assigned all over the place if you don't pay for a seat selection? Their website says "your party may be separated", which I realize, but I wondered if it seems to be a deliberate separation or if you check in right at the 24hr mark you might all be placed in the same row.

I wonder what happened...

There are no direct Frontier flights from LAX to MCO anymore. The fastest is 13 hours! A 4.5 hour stop in Denver - 18 hours coming back. The cheapest is 15 hours with a 7 hour layover in Denver and a 1 hour in Saint Louis. That one is $380 r/t and I paid $440 with all the upgrades (seats and luggage) on JetBlue.

I guess it's not an in-demand route. Both times I've done it the plane was full.
Wow that stinks. Nothing direct out of Santa Ana or Long Beach?

Their fleet is quite new, which is a definite plus. I've only flown them a few times, but thought the experience was pretty good. Yes, they're no frills, so be aware of the extras. I think the only extras we paid for were for the seat assignment and a checked bag each. (While not my favorite airline, Frontier, IMO, is far superior to some of the other cutrate airlines -- especially Allegiant)

Main drawback to me for Frontier is a local one. The baggage claim at Trenton (TTN) is horrible -- you wait awhile in a trailer for them to bring back your bags and they push them on old meat rollers (I'm not kidding) (Can anyone chime in if that has changed?)

The offer limited "free" seat selection in the back of the plane. like last 4 rows. usually, it is the center seats of a 3 person row. If you book early...you may be able to sit together....if you book late...you are scraping the bottom of the barrel.

but...pay $20 get any seat you like in the middle of the plane. $20 x 4...your bargain fare just got $160 more expensive....because they get you coming and going

I hadn't even checked...

They don't fly out of Long Beach and Santa Ana is even worse; one option is 23 hours! The cheapest is 9.5 hours with a 4.5 hour layover in Denver.
Seems there are no direct flights out of California to MCO anymore.

After reading many reviews of people saying they never pay for seats and are always seated with their family I decided to take a chance last year. I checked in right at the 24 hour mark and was seated with my son both ways and very close to where I would normally choose to sit (around the wing area). Yes, they randomly assign to any seats that have not been paid for specifically, but they do seem to try and keep parties together if it's an option.

Have you tried Kayak/com to search for flights?

From 9/12-9/19, filtering out all but nonstop flights, i'm seeing numerous options less than $300, including $226 on American. That's LAX to MCO.

I posted this in the "Frontier" thread because I found it interesting that Frontier has stopped all direct flights from LAX to MCO.
Just informational.

But thank you for the research. I have my tickets from JetBlue. Without the add-ons $254 r/t. at exactly the times I want to fly.

Those who flew to MCO did DME pick up your luggage from this airline?? Or did you have to get it and bring it to the bus yourself?
