Has anyone experienced the Wishes dessert party no sugar added/sugar free offerings?

I was wondering how many sugar free/no sugar added options there are and if it would be worth doing as someone who doesn't eat sugar?

I hope that they don't substitute SORBITOL for sweetening.

If they do, the "fireworks" won't all be in the sky. ;)

When I go to the Dessert Party it will be my first time there and my first visit to the World as a type 2 diabetic. I do not seek out sugar free foods as I know from personal experience they will 1) likely cause stomach problems (if it ends in ITOL, it's a laxative), 2) likely raise my blood glucose level as high as the non-sugar-free carbs; 3) they probably have as much fat (if not more) than the non-sugar free carbs and just as many if not more calories; 4) I can usually detect an aftertaste of some sort; 5) I may not know the fat content, calorie count, or carb count vs. sugar alcohol count whereas with a non-sugar-free recipe I can make a pretty good guess.

It all depends on why you are trying to avoid white sugar and what your needs are.

Is the Dessert Party worth it? It is to me to have a place to sit and wait for the fireworks and to have something for my husband to eat. I know I won't be trying to "get my money's worth" on the food anywhere at Disney World. I'll be eating what's right for me on my nutrition plan.

I'm not diabetic but I have other intestinal medical issues which I have found are a lot better if I avoid refined sugars. Last year I had sugar free desserts in the restaurants and was absolutely fine - and they were delicious! :thumbsup2 The dessert party is quite expensive so I was wondering if there would be enough sugar free options to justify it.

I have no idea how the sugar-free options are, although you could call Disney and see if you can get an answer. I know there is a decent amount of fruit.

We are planning to do this when we go in June, and while my DS and I will probably eat our weight in goodies, my DH doesn't have much of a sweet tooth and is very picky besides. He'll probably eat a few cookies and drink some lemonade. It's worth it to us to have an assigned table and be able to watch the fireworks from an uncongested area.

I did this last year. I had GB surgery so I have to avoid many sweet things. Some of the options were good, others were not. You can see what foods they gave me from the food link in my signature, towards the end of the album. The sorbets/ice cream were good, the muffin was not. They gave me several different things to have but I also picked a little from the regular buffet. Hope this helps! :)

Thank you very much. When you wrote "Sugar free apple sorbet, chocolate muffin, raspberry sorbet, and strawberry cheesecake" under your photo, were all those items sugar free? If I had 4 or 5 different choices that would make it worth it I think. How was the butter pecan? Also were the sugar free items available without having to be specially requested? Thank you!

i did this last year and I also go sugar=free because of the bypass. I lOVED the green apple sorbet. I am glad I did it but I wouldn't do it again probably. I also ate a few bites from the buffet. The Cast Members were so accomodating and wonderful.

I would definitely do it once.

Yes those were all sugar-free. I don't like butter pecan so my fiance had it but he said it was good. :lmao:

And no, I had to request those in advance, otherwise there were no sugar-free foods available. They brought those out to me specially.
