Has anyone experience bed bugs problems at Anaheim Plaza?

We are coming to Disneyland in May again, we were there in October 2009 so coming twice in one year from Australia, needless to say i'm excited.

Last time our trip was way too short, this time we are staying for 2 weeks :cool1:

The Anaheim Plaza is much cheaper than alot of the other hotels and for the money we would save the 10 min walk will be worth it.

The only thing that worries me is that there are a few reviews on trip advisor about people having bed bugs there. I mainly ask as i have a 3.5 year old daughter with sensitive skin so if we are there for 2 weeks and have that problem it would be a nightmare. Plus coming from Australia and having everything pre-paid theres not much option to change hotels if things aren't good.

We are pretty laid back, i have read it is older, nothing flashy etc so thats not a problem just want it to be free of bugs really :)

So i just wanted to ask you lovely people who may have stayed there/know those who have what the real story is.

Thanks

Most of my "budget" trips are spent at Anaheim Plaza, and I've never once seen a bed bug. :goodvibes

Nope, not at all. We liked the AP. Watch the HoJo tho, that Ent Rate is awesome!!

Thanks all.

Last time we stayed at the Carousel Inn and Suites and that was good, i liked staying so close but going back to Disneyland so quickly again and the extended stay means its out of the price range.

Im glad to hear that noones had a problem so i will not worry about that then. To be coming back so quickly id sleep on a bench, but probably not good for a 3 year old :rotfl:

Nope; stayed there many a time & never saw/got bit by bedbugs.

But if you want me to recommend a hotel nearby that DOES have bedbugs (coughit'srighnextdoortotheAPHotelandisshapedlikeaDisneylandlandmarkcough), I can :rotfl:

I've stayed there 2 times, and were going again for a 3rd trip sometime in the next couple of weeks and I have a 2 year old and a 3 year old both with terribly sensitive skin and we have never had an issue there with bed bugs. Infact what we like most about the plaza is that even though its old it's very clean in my opinion.

Thanks all that makes me feel so much better.

I am booking and paying on Monday so just wanted to check before hand.

I read the previous reviews on here before i posted and they all sounded ok but thought i'd check on the bug situation.

Spacemermaid - I checked that place on trip advisor and the reviews are pretty poor so thanks for the heads up :goodvibes I saw it when we were there last time and thought it looked kinda cute on the outside but looks can be decieving by the sounds of it

What's sad is that it used to be a decent place to stay, a long time ago!

I'm sure you'll enjoy your stay at the Anaheim Plaza, though :thumbsup2

I've stayed at the Anaheim Plaza 3 times. Never had a bedbug problem, but I have had issues with the hot water not being very hot at times.

It's not my favorite hotel, but there are worse places to stay. I prefer Hojo's to Anaheim Plaza. I think the walk is a little bit shorter and I think it's a nicer property.

Thanks everyone.

Im going to get my travel agent to get a quote for Hojos too but when she was looking at hotels for me Anaheim Plaza was about $700 cheaper for the 15 nights than anywhere else. Thats alot of Mickey Pretzels...:rotfl:

So if Hojos is much more i think we will stay with the Anaheim Plaza.

Plus i just spoke to my mum one of her work collegues stayed there recently and said it was great, would definatley go back there so thats another positive review :cool1:

I saw the Anaheim plaza in the creative holidays australia brochure for $988.00 AUD for 14 nights so 15 nights would be $1064.00. What price have they quoted you?

I have only spoken to my travel agent on the phone and got the whole package price (airfares, accomodation, transfers, disneypasses) but when i asked her about other hotels she told me that AP was at least $700 cheaper than the other hotels i had asked about.

When i go see her on Monday and get the breakdown of it all i'll let you know

I'm actually at the AP right now, using my phone to type this because they charge 9.95/night for internet.

I am only staying here one night, as we arrived in town a day earlier than expected, but I'm not terribly impressed with the cleanliness of the Anaheim Plaza. There was a hair in the bathtub, part of the mirror hadn't been cleaned, walls have some kind of splatter in the bathroom - just kind of a few things that had me raising my eyebrows. I don't think I'd want to stay here for a whole trip, unless I was on a really tight budget. Even so, keep in mind they charge for internet and don't offer free breakfast, so that will negate a little bit of your savings.

On the plus side, our room does have a fridge & microwave.

Just be careful with the Aussie travel agents price. We stayed at the Hojo in Oct 09 and the prices given by the TA's were significantly more expensive (and in a smaller room) than booking straight with the Hojo themselves. I would hazzard a guess that it would be the same scenario for most hotels.

Just remember that travel agents are not there to save you a few dollars or to do you any favours. Maybe if you did some of the legwork yourself and you can then compare the price from the TA with what it really will cost. ;)

My husband and I stayed there a few years ago overall for the price we really liked it. However one day we were there we were getting ready and out of the corner of my eye i saw something, when I looked down it was a HUGE bug that looked like the mother of all cockroaches. It ran under our bed so we went to the lobby and told them about it. They said it wasnt a cockroach it was a water bug and that they are common in that area. They dealt with it. When we got home someone told me that they are a type of cockroach but not the kind that infest your house or anything. Still pretty gross though!

We stay here almost every month for weekend trips to Disney and have never had a problem. The people that work there are very nice too.
