used Disney Dollars as tips for the people who take your luggage, mouse keeping, or any sleigh or hay rides or anything else where tips would be needed? Is this offensive or is it an ok thing to do? Not everyone carries cash.:earsgirl: :earsboy:

Not all cast members visit Disney on days off. We had a neighbor who worked at Emporium for years, but only visited a handful of times on his day off. He thought we were nuts for going to frequently.

I've used Disney dollars and not had any flack. I think they probably just trade them in for real dollars at their hotel's gift shop or something.

What does this have to do with the OP's question???

I do this on every trip. It's not offensive as Disney Dollars are cash. I've never had a bad reaction using them, and in some cases I've gotten a very positive reaction!

Lovethattink was saying what I was thinking. By giving someone Disney dollars, that forces them to use their tips within Disney world. I don't think they can cash them in for real money just like we can't. (Please, a CM correct me if I am wrong.) Therefore, unless the person visits Disney regularly or purchases things from the World when they work, receiving Disney Dollars would be like receiving Monopoly Money. :) Don't get me wrong. I'm sure lots of people appreciate it but Lovethattink, I think, was just pointing out that not everyone would.

I am not a CM but I have heard them say they are able to cash them in easily at the end of their shifts.

i used disney dollars to tip the server at libery tree tavern during mnsshp.
he said he trades them in at the end of his shift and its the same as getting cash.

he said he ususally gets a better tip when customers use disney dollars. guess people are more generous then..........

Well, if that is the case then there is no difference. I incorrectly assumed that Disney would not cash anyone's Disney Dollars.

i just thought of something. last year i bought too much of the disney dollars.
i needed cash and went to guest services instead of the atm.

the cm at the mk guest relations exchanged my disney dollars back for cash. it was an even exchange.

i totally forgot about that but wanted to add that to what i previously said.

you aren't "stuck" with disney dollars if you have them. all you have to do to get cash for disney dollars is take them to guest services. they will gladly exchange them for you dollar for dollar. :cool1:

Yes. I think we all realize that now. I didn't know that before this post. It's been a long time since I've been to the World and when I was there I wasn't the one dealing with the money. :cloud9:
