Thinking about making a trip to shop today. Someone told me that IKEA has a kids play area with a ball pit that is a "drop off center." How does this work? You drop your kids off while you shop? Is there a fee for this? Is it supervised? I know my dd would love it, but I'm a bit hesitant. Any help you guys can give would be great!

You drop them off (sign them in). It is free, it is supervised. In the store, there are various closed-circuit monitors so that you can see them while you are shopping!

One time I put my DD in there and, at some point, she wanted to leave. So they paged me over the store intercom and had me come back to the ball area. I was freaked out at first but it turned out that she just wanted to leave. I was impressed that they were so responsive.

Also, I believe there is a time limit. I think when we went last summer it was one hour.

Woahhhh - an hour free to shop undisturbed? Nice!

My oldest son LOVED it. There is a 1 hour time limit, but those stores are so large and crowded that even an hour to shop unencumbered was great.

They have a play area at our loval grocery store. The kids and you get bracelets, the door is locked at all times and controlled through a window by an attendant, you receive a pager in case they need you, and there are monitors throughout the store.

My kids go in sometimes, and sometimes they don't. They let them play with glitter, which they don't get to do at home, so they liked it.

Is there an age limit for how young you have to be? I'd probably just take my 9 month old with me, but it would be nice to have an option if they had it...

I believe they need to be potty trained.

Just checked the website, they must be potty trained and ages 3 to 9.

I think the age requirement depends on the Ikea. I think the one in Schaumburg, IL has the same lower end requirement, but they have a height requirement for when a kid is too old and not an age requirement.

My DD LOVED the Ikea "play place". She is very bummed that she is too tall now for it.
