I'm still going crazy with last minute changes to my ressies. We'll be there in 9 days! With the discount codes, I can get a good rate on WL courtyard view, but the concierge-JD keeps comming up too. Does anyone know what that is? I understand what concierge is, it's the JD that has me confused.

Thanks.

Tina

I have no clue what the JD is, did you ask them to explain exactly what that is? I like WL concierge but I am wondering is it a Junior something, I hope someone else can help you, because now I am curious :dog2:

We paid for an upgrade when we got to the hotel...We had booked I think Woods View and asked if there were any upgrades available. For $30 per night we were upgraded to cons...loved it! We had a bunk bed room in the quietest hallway around. It was lovely...my kids enjoyed the food and drinks, not to mention the towel animals, coloring books and stickers. The staff were very friendly. I didn't use the staff as much as I would now...for priority seating etc...this was in 2003. I read where the upgrade is now $50. I wouldn't pay the full price for cons, not when there is a cheaper route. Good luck!

pirate: Hello wdwluver, a few years ago we stayed on the Concierge level on the 7th floor at the WL. and we were a family of 4. Myself, wife, and our 2 teenage daughters. We had previously stayed non-concierge at the WL and honestly loved it! We also really liked the Concierge at the WL but at that time there wasn't a Concierge Lounge which as I understand it is that they now currently have a lounge. The offerings were on par with a lot of the concierge amenities that we have experienced at other concierge level resorts at WDW., just a different theme. The biggest complaint that I could honestly say was that there wasn't a true concierge lounge like the ones we've experienced in the past at other resorts such as the Polynesian, Boardwalk, Beach Club, Yacht Club, Contemporary, and so on. It really sounds like it's a lot nicer now that they have a Lounge versus not having one. I really think you will enjoy staying at the WL even without staying Concierge. Either way you honestly can't go wrong. Have a great time!!!!! Chip.

Wow! $30 for an upgrade to concierge? That sounds great. Would they allow such a thing even if I booked a package with the current discount code? If so, It certainly sounds like I would do better just trying to upgrade once I got there.

Are upgrades consistently possible?

I think my DH would really like that. I'm currently booked for the CBR, but I want to upgrade to WL as a surprise and the new discounts will certainly make that possible.

Thanks for the info.

I think as with all upgrades it is based on availability. Not sure if that is something you could count on...good luck! Does anyone else know for sure?

If you want concierge you better book it....I think the chances of it being available at check in are better at the WL than most of the other deluxes.....however they are still probably less than 50:50 for stays longer than 2 or 3 nights (they will not allow you to upgrade even if 1 night of your stay the concierge floor is sold out) or if you go during a busy season.

Also the charge to upgrade depends a lot on the rate you booked at....if you booked at a discounted rate that is not available for concierge....then the up charge can be substantial.

If you think it would be a nice suprise if it is available for $50/night or so then ask when you check in....if you have your heart set on staying CL and it will disappoint you greatly if you do not get it, then book it in advance. I think sometimes people have their heart set on CL and when they don't get it at check in it ruins their whole stay and they are mad at the CM that checks them in.

We tried to upgrade at the WL in regular season and were quoted $60.00 (from wood view). Unfortunately when they checked there was no availability, although they did upgrade us to courtyard view for free. I wouldn't count on it being available, but it doesn't hurt to ask.

Anyone know what the AAA rate for concierge is for value season at WL for 2006? Thanks!

Wdwluver- did you ever find out what the JD means? I looked at my confirmation sheet last night and noticed that it said we were booked WL concierge (which I knew) but it also had the JD after it? I did not notice it before but now I am wondering what it means? :confused3

:cool1: I did it! I finally booked our room at WL. I think I just got in under the wire. The CM told me that the information from my previous hotel CBR had already been downloaded and she couldn't change it. She called guest services and they told her there were no more rooms available at the discounted rate. When I told her that I had just priced the same package online and it showed availability, she asked them again and they were able to book it!

I'm not sure what happened, but I am glad I persisted. My itinerary online changed to the new resort in a matter of minutes. Now my only concern is that they missed the dining part of the package. She confirmed with me by phone that it included "plus dining" but it is no longer showing as it previously did.

I guess I'm making another phone call. I just don't want them to be sick of me before I arrive.

WL conciege is wonderful! It's been awhile since I last stayed there.. Dec 2003 :guilty: but we had a perfect stay. There was a lot of rain but it was nice to be holed up in that great resort with all the delicious offerings as opposed to anywhere else. We loved the jacuzzis and the geyser that went off every hour or so, and the lovely wildflowers around the grounds outside--nice touch. I loved the waterfall pool, never found it too crowded, but of course, we were there during value season and I've heard others say it was crowded for them. The offerings were truly delicious--my favorite of all the concierge services I've tried (BC and AKL) and the staff were just sweethearts. It was of course decorated for Christmas and that's the best time for a WL stay, I think. We had a great visit.

Had a view of the castle, BTW, on the seventh floor. :wizard:
