Has anyone ever rented a car in Cozumel?

Hasd anyone ever rented a car in Cozumel and if so from who and where?

Also what did you do for insurance coverage for the car?

We rented a Jeep. When you get off the ship there are guys every where asking if you want to rent one. We had a 2004 for 50.00 for the day. This is the second time we've done it. It is wonderful!!!!!!!!!! Take the road across the island and you will have beaches all to yourselves. Very little traffic and lots of fun. The city where you get off the ship is very crowded and dirty but the other side is beautiful. We did not get insurance.

We rented from www.cozumelinsider.com. I think it was through Avis and cost around $75 including full insurance. Avis is at the pier, and there were lots of other car companies at the pier too, so you could wait til you get there. This website also has a nice listing of cozumel's beaches and their amenities.

We rented a Suzuki mini jep from Budget. We were supposed to go to Tlum, but rough seas kept us away, so we walked to port and there was a guy ther from Budget with a sign.

I belive it was $75 including insurance, since it is Mexico and I am not sure if my insurance would cover rental out of the US.

Went to the resort and drove around the island. Saw some nice beaches.
