Has anyone ever purchased into DVC without staying or touring a property?

We bought BWV site unseen. But I had stayed at other Disney Deluxe resorts and knew I wouldn't be dissappointed with the BWV and I'm not!!!

But that being said, I really didn't like BCV or AKV. I love VB and I just know I'll love BLT too.

We did! We did! I always wanted DVC just because we love Disney and visit every year! My goal has always been to stay at every Disney Resort ! The deal I worked out with my dh was that when my car was paid off... I could get DVC. I also couldn't get a new car untill our DVC is paid off. I paid my car off on June 6, 2007 and contacted DVC on June 7! We went down to the World and stayed at an All Star resort in July, toured the AKV model and knew that our decision to buy was a great decision!!!:goodvibes

I bought BWV without ever touring or staying there. It was 1999, so the choices were OKW or BWV. I had stayed at OKW with friends and loved the rooms. I had stayed at the Beach Club in 1998, so I knew I loved the boardwalk area. I wanted to stay at both but thought it would be harder to get a res at BWV so I bought there. I used my friend's guide, I bought over the phone. Countless trips later (I'm going on Oct 18!), no regrets.

Haven't closed yet but we are purchasing at SSR site unseen. We did get the DVC DVD and book about 1 1/2 yrs ago and went to Disney for the 1st time last Dec staying at CSR. However we did already rent points for AKV for next year so we bought a stripped contract for a lower $ per point.

I bought BCV presale over the phone in '02, I had stayed in the BC hotel
and loved the area. At the time WLV was being offered and I wasn't interest
in that location at the time (I've since stayed at WLV and it's now my second
favorite resort behind BCV). I did an add-on at SSR sight unseen for addtional
points taking advantage of the promo in '06 (no current plans to stay there
though).

I'm glad I bought where I want to stay! I only wish it had come on line
sooner and at a lower cost!!!:woohoo:

I purchased sight unseen. I did the DVC tour at Disneyland. The current models they have are GCV but I purchased at AKV. I've been to AKL for dinner at Jiko and breakfast at Boma but didn't really have time to tour the resort.

That being said I feel confident that we'll love it, particularly Kidani Village based on the artist renderings I've seen. My boys love AK and I think it'll be thrilling for them be able to see the animals from our villa.

We bought in without seeing a sample. 2 months later we took a WDW trip and did see the samples and DMom was with us. She was so excited,...we were buying just because we knew we wanted a large group with us to celebrate her 85th birthday! I remember how we planned for her to use the whilpool, and that birthday trip was 13 months away at the time. She was in awe, truly the accomodations were beyond what she thought they would be...it was the best birthday we could give her!

Yes. Purchased VB sight unseen in March, and still haven't seen it! :lmao: We have reservations for late July, and I can't wait!

We struggled with the same decision: OKW or SSR? I love both resorts, so it was really hard. At the end of the day, we chose SSR because of the extra years, proximity to DTD and a little more to do with the kids. If it were just DH and me, we may have made a different decision. I love the space, the lush landscape, and "condo" feel that OKW has to offer.

Whatever you decide, you can't go wrong! Both resorts are absolutely beautiful!!! :thumbsup2

I bought SSR while it was still under construction. I did take the tour at BWV and was able to see the model. I would have bought without viewing the models regardless. As soon as I saw SSR I knew it was home and I haven't had a moments regret.

WE DID! We had always stayed at CBR and loved it. We decided it was time to buy DVC and took one look at OKW and dove in! We will take our 4th trip there next month and really love it!:cool1:

Yep, us too. We have visited WDW for the last two years and realized after our last stay that all three of our children would be adults (according to Disney) on our next trip. We started looking at the price of accommodations for our family and QUICKLY ordered the DVC DVD. Spent lots of time on this disboard and crunching numbers but finally took the plunge and bought AKV. We will take a tour when we go to SSR (on our developer points) next summer!! We can't wait to "go home".

As Californians we had been to Disneyland hundreds of times, but took our first trip to "The World" in 2003. We took the tour and bought on this first trip, so not completely site unseen. However, we have since purchased add-ons at 3 other DVC resorts, none of which had we stayed in (or even visited/viewed the models!) before the purchase. We have since lived in all our "homes," except BLT where we expect to spend our holidays in 2009!

Blahnde

Another Californian that bought sight unseen, sort of. We stayed at the Disney Institute in 2000 (loved being close to DTD) and OKW in 2003 so we decided to take a baby step into the system with a 100 point resale contract at SSR in 2005. Then we were hooked and we've added on twice. :cloud9:

I'll be one happy camper once the GCV go on sale!:lovestruc

We bought sight unseen and at the time we'd bought we'd only ever spent one night on site. I don't regret it at all and, as with most DVC'ers, wished we bought sooner.

I have I bought into the beach club that way I never stayed there i heard about their pool and bought. So bought based on what I heard about their pool lol

We bought sight unseen! Never been in a DVC unit--no tour no overnight stay. My DH was a CM and his store was being sold. So we quickly decided to buy into DVC with his discount before it ended. No regrets.

We have actually bought 3 contracts so far, we bought into SSR and BWV after staying at each 1 just once, we bought into AKV after just seeing the model set up at SSR the one time we went. We have never had any regrets buying in, after sitting down at first and realizing that it starts paying for itself after like 7 years how could we not join in. The way i looked at it from the beginning was you are paying for trips now while you are working and can afford it so when you are retired you can enjoy only having maintence fees and relax in Disney still.

Sight unseen here too. Never took the tour, never been to a DVC resort. We go to Disney once or twice a year and have stayed onsite each time anywhere from Pop to AKL so we knew we loved the Disney properties. I will however, confess to being an obsessive researcher so we definately knew as much if not more than the info given during the tour when we signed. :thumbsup2

The first time we will see the models is in a week or so. In the past 3 months we have bought 175 points at AKV and 300 at BLT. We've never even stayed at AKL but we love staying at CR. Of course we researched here and other places as well before the purchase. I felt no need to physically see a mock-up of the rooms before buying. Sure I looked at pictures and got enough info from the floor plans. However, I am excited to see the BLT model next week.
