Has anyone ever had this happen when checking quote from DCL

I was just checking the 7n cruise quotes on DCL website. I was varying my dates to see the early booking savings and the prices kept getting higher for each month I checked, so naturally I thought the first month was lower because it was January.

However, I went back to January and put the SAME DATES in as 15 minutes before and they had gone up 300$. I know I had the exact same dates and category since I wrote it down.

Has this happened before? Do they change that much this far in advance? Should I wait to book my 7n cruise when I am on ship in October? When does early booking start? Thanks in advance for any replies.

Hi Kackie! Early booking savings with DCL is done in "tiers". Each sailing has its own set of tiers, and once DCL books a certain number of staterooms in each tier on a sailing they then move into the next level of early booking savings (less savings with each tier).

There is no set time for early booking savings; it is dependent upon how quickly a certain sailing books up. Some very popular sailing dates will book quickly and move into lower early booking savings very quickly; other sailings may stay at the best possible savings for quite a while.

And yes, the price can change in the blink of an eye. I would definitely book what you want now, and if you get a better deal with an onboard offer in the fall you can always book that and transfer your deposit over, or get a refund of that deposit and book the new deal.

I have had it happen also, I think it's a bug in their software. If you go back the next day the prices go back to the original numbers.

I've seen the same thing. But like Lou said, it settles back down to the previous price the next day (or maybe the next sesssion -- when the cookies expire). Ya think they're playing some mind games?

I don't know about DCL....but I'm sure it's true....

Last night at home, I looked up airline fares for my boss and the airfare from Savannah, Ga
to DC was $156.00. When I got to work this morning to book the trip for him, the fare had
gone up to $186.00.

So I guess a cruise can go up that quick if an airline fare can go up.

i booked by phone with DCL....
the phone quote was lower than the internet quote....

as for the comment about the airfares going up each time you call...
that's because the airlines (or rather northwest) uses a program that generates fares based on number of inquiries for a particular flight....inquiries not bookings...
so if you call northwest and inquire about a particular flight to orlando....and they tell you it will be $100.....
then you call back a few minutes later and inquire about the same flight, the price will be higher because of the pricing program....
very very annoying....so never do that....if you hear a great price, reserve it on the spot....or else you'll end up getting a higher quote the next time....at least on NW....

I've never heard of that before. Interesting.
