has anyone ever had a stroller stolen at Disney?

We are trying to decide between bringing our own stroller and renting one. My husband is concerned that if we park our stroller while we go on a ride, someone may swipe it.

Is this a real concern?

nope! At the risk of sounding snooty, our strollers are on the pricier side (we hate the flimsy umbrella kind, and DH is too tall for them- quite the sight!) and we have never had a problem. We even leave stuff in or under them. I figure if someone really needs to steal my bottle of water or my diapers and wipes that bad, then have at it

Im terrified of someone stealing my almost $800 stroller (its a triple lol) so I just bought 3 umbrella strollers and dh pushes one, I push one, and my mom pushes one.. but if just dh and i go, the 4 yr old walks until hes too tired and then we go home lol.. But yeah, Im too chicken to test and see if someones gonna steal my very expensive stroller lol.. If they steal the $20 umbrella strollers oh well!

there's always some middle of the line double strollers, since I see that you have another one on the way :goodvibes then it would be easy if it's just you and DH, and a graco twin stroller is only about $150

yeah dh and i were wondering what to do in disney with the 4 of them lmao.. I suppose we really should look at some doubles and we each push one lol.. I refuse to put a baby younger than a yr in an umbrella stroller lol.. and come April/May it will be way too hot to carry baby in a sling all day lolol..

Our stroller was more than $1000 and we were worried about this exact thing. We are taking a bicycle lock with us, and just running it through the wheels when we leave it parked... if someone wants to try and break the lock in front of the thousands of others that walk by, let them. I figure this is an easy deterrant to anyone that would even consider it.

WHAT???? Why? Even ones that are your own, and not the rented WDW ones? Man... now I'm worried!!!!

I hope I am helping. I found a double side by side stroller online it's a Graco DuoRider 6551CLN It works so well it pushes so easily it's very light weight I found mine online for 120.00 and free shipping. I hated the big front to back limo we has I struggled with it. And as far as your hubby looking funny pushing a stroller my hubby is tall and has no problem.

I am not sure why...but I am certain that I read about someone getting reprimanded for locking up their stroller.

A good friend of mine parked hers in front of the Winnie the Pooh ride and it was stolen. It was some fancy stroller with a special print only sold overseas, so it wasn't like someone just accidentally took it.
So, yes, it happens! How often, dunno. But, we are definitely taking our cheapie umbrella stroller!

K... just did a quick search and it sounds like you are OK with locking the wheels, so long as you dont lock it to anything. (Just lock the wheels by running a cable through them to the frame)... so long as the CM's can move your stroller if to straighten it out in the "parking area" then it is ok. They tend to get mad if you attach it to a fence on grounds. PHEW!!!!

Yes, ours was. I do not know if it was an accident, or if they were trading their old one (same color/model) for our brand new one. At least it wasn't expensive, and we were only out of a stroller for one day because Disney let us have the other people's old one.
I would suggest putting something on your stroller that will easily identify it as yours. Something you will notice if you're looking around at strollers that look like yours wondering if it's yours! (believe me there are a ton of strollers that look exactly alike) Like a small sticker on the frame (in case it's taken on purpose). And then something larger like a handkerchief tied to the handle (to prevent it being taken on accident). And maybe write your name on the bottom.

I used the Disney rented one and mine was stollen twice. Once I had nothing in it and the second time I did. Luckily it was nothing of huge value, but still it was very annoying then having to carry my purchase and sleeping infant across a huge area to get to the place where they would replace the stroller!

We had a cheap umbrella stroller stolen in June outside the People Mover. It was right next to our Combi travel stroller, so I really think someone just thought it was theirs by the mistake.

Nope. We have a Mac Quest and have seen much $$$ strollers around as well.

I have never had one stolen at Disney and we usually take a Combi. We did have an incident at Universal once where we came out and we could not find our stroller. There was one that was exactly like ours (it had a unique print) only it was dirty and somewhat worn with an airport tag on it. After looking around and waiting a while we figured that someone swapped hours for theirs. We found our stroller a couple of ours later outside a show and switched back! I don't see how they could have been confused , but maybe they really didn't notice they had swapped them. They may never have known!

We came out from an early breakfast at Crystal Palace to find our Maclaren gone. A CM took a description and gave me a voucher for a free rental for the day. Whilst I went to collect the rental my husband walked around looking for our stroller, as it was still early and not very busy. He saw a family using it to push their large son around. He told a CM in the area and they approached the family who apologised and gave our stroller to the CM to return to us. We have taken at least one stroller on each vacation to WDW and until that day we'd had no problems, and we've had none since. I'm not willing to risk losing my Bugaboo though, or having it damaged on the plane, so I've just bought a new stroller to take to WDW next month for my DD's 1st birthday. DH and I look forward to the day we can finally do WDW without a stroller :woohoo:
