Has anyone ever got HHI at the 7 mnth mark.....for the summer?!!!

I would like to book 2 weeks at HHI in a 1 bed in July or August 2006........but can only book at the 7 mnth window. Has anyone else been successful with this? Or am I wasting my time?!!! What about the waitlist? Am I more likely to get an exchange into one of the Marriott resorts there?Please help!

We own at HH, but didn't make our reservations until 7 months. We were able to get a 2 bedroom for June no problem. You wouldn't want to wait much longer past the 7 month mark though and you may want to call day by day to make sure you get it.

We were able to book a one-bedroom at the 7-month window with no problem. Our plans changed a few times, so we kept having to switch dates and none were a problem (first week in July, last week in July, third week in August). We finally are set with the week before Labor Day.

I did call day by day for each of these, but had no problem at all.

We called day by day at our 7 month mark for our trip in July 2003 in a 2 bedroom and had no problem. That being said, be aware that there are alot less 1 BR's and Studios than 2 BR's.

We stayed at HHI June 20-24, 2004 in a 1BR.
We were able to call and book all nights on Nov. 24th, 2003, not day by day. Given that most of the units at HHI are 2BR, we felt fortunate to get the reservation. Had a great time...

We were able to get a 1BR for 5 days at HHI last year during August through the waitlist..

The 7 month mark is very doable, but can you go the second, third or fourth week or August? That's going to be your best bet. I don't know about two weeks in a row either...or did you mean you wanted two units during the same week? You might want to try for a Marriott as well, broaden your search to include that chain, which has a large presence on HHI. Good luck to you!

Regarding HHI - just curious, has anyone ever used their points to exchange for an II resort on HHI rather than staying at the DVC resort? Not sure what the point of doing this would be other than just for a change or for wanting to stay on the beach. If you did do this, was it hard to get the exchange?

Last summer we booked 2 studios for the same week in June, and this summer we got 1 studio in June, both at the 7 month mark. Day-by-day is the way to do it, first thing in the morning.

Yes, we could be flexible for any weeks in July or August, although flying out in the first or second week of July would be best for us re air fare! Would two weeks at HHI be too long? How long would it take to drive from Orlando or Vero?

Well, I'm very surprised by these answers, I thought it would be unheard of to get either a studio or 1 bedroom at HH, Wow!

Juls, did you want 2 studios this year, and not get one, or was 1 what you wanted this year?

I booked a studio last June (1rst week) at the 7 month window! This year, we decided to go in July and I booked it in two increments!

We hope to be able to do this one of these years. For us, it wouldn't be.

What is the weather like in July and August>!!?

Hot and humid. Sometimes a quick thunderstorm with blow through in the afternoon (or a sand storm on the beach). We have yet to have an entire day of rain in 4 summers at HH .

Our very first trip was booked at the 7 month window. We booked during the week of Christmas when MS was closed several days. We used that to our advantage and didn't have to call as often.

We called for a Studio at the 7th month window for the 3rd week of August for this year and were pleasantly surprised to have no problem with booking!!

This year we just wanted the 1 studio, and had no problem booking it day-by-day

We waitlisted for August in May or June and got all our days. We had a harder time getting in during Thanksgiving and actually had to spend 2 days off property.
