DH and I are planning on a cruise. We are flying from our home in Boston to Atlanta (where my sister lives) to drop off our son, and then will be proceeding to Port Canaveral. We are trying to find the most cost effective way of getting to Port Canaveral. We were wondering if we should rent a car in Atlanta, then drop it off at the car rental agency near Port Canaveral, or should we keep the rental car parked at Cape Canaveral while we are on the 4 day cruise. We are not familiar with the Port Canaveral area at all and would appreciate any information from all of you seasoned cruisers. :D

Although many of the car rental agencies are quite accommodating about affordable one-way rentals within Florida, they typically do not offer attractive prices for one-way rentals to/from Florida from other states. You can try pricing a few, but you will probably find it cheaper to find a weekly rate on a car with unlimited mileage, and just pay the $40 to park it while you're on the cruise.
