i will be staying at the yacht club and i was just wondering , if they have a concerige room available how much more $$$ would they charge? has anyone upgraded themselves when they checked in their resort to concerige?;)

Every now and then you can get a special deal, but generally they'll charge you the price difference between rack for your room that you have booked and rack concierge. So it CAN be a decent deal if you've booked a standard view room on a code.

i have a standard view room, when i booked it, cm offered me the managers special, i was just wondering if anyone paid the cash difference and stayed in the concerige, and how much did they have to pay.:)

The last time we stayed at the BC we were offered an upgrade to concierge for $100 when we were checking in.

Anne

thank you, have you stayed at the yacht club concerige, is it worth the extra 100?:)

Yes, I've stayed at the YC concierge. Honestly it was not my favorite.

"Worth" it is a subjective question. It depends on your touring style. If you're out of bed and in the parks at the crack of dawn, returning in the night to sleep and shower, then no. If you plan on spending a lot of time at the resort, and will take advantage of the amenities, maybe. If you are asking if you will eat enough food to compensate for the extra cost, highly unlikely. Only you can make the decision.

Have a good trip whatever you decide. :)

thank you, this will be my second trip to wdw this year and this one is a relaxing one, i'm a dvc member and i didn't want to use my points for the weekend. when i called ms and searched a few resorts, cm offered the yc sat and bc the following friday for a great price, i could have rented my points for one day out of the weekend and paid for my two nights at the yc & bc.
thank you for the info !:)

Guests who upgrade to concierge a check-in miss out on the pre arrival itinerary planning service. This is a wonderful part of the concierge experience, the planner will make your PS arrangements for you, faxing or emailing you a personal itinerary.

With PS's made by concierge you have little to no waiting at restaurants and excellent tables. They can also help with hard to get PS's (ie) CRT, illuminations cruise.. etc...

The itinerary planners are friendly and knowledgable and have also helped with arrival surprises for my DD and pillow gifts throughout our stay.

This is an valuable part of the extra charge for concierge that people miss out on upgrading locally.

I just want to mention that not always will you be contacted by the concierge (or pre-arrival itinerary planning office) of a resort prior to arrival. In a lot of cases, I have not been contacted before my concierge stays, and those stays were booked from Day One and were several months out. Booking concierge upon check-in would have given me the same results as booking it months in advance. Just thought I'd mention the flip side of the coin that >>^..^<< mentioned.

It was not at the GF, but I went to the WL in March and had a std view room with an AP rate and upgraded to concierge for $45.00 per night. Have Fun.

We stayed YC concierge last November. They never contacted me once or offered any help. I am a very resourceful person and really didn't ask for much help either. I called them 2 mornings for PS at restaurants in France and England. Other than that, I barely spoke to them. The lounge was wonderful with great snacks and drinks. They were always pleasant to my daughters, who spent a lot of time there. If you expect a lot from them, you really have to ask. Still, I would stay there in a second because our view was gorgeous. We had a Deluxe room overlooking Epcot and the Eiffel Tower. Our best room yet! It just depends on what you expect from concierge for your $$$.

I am going to try and get us upgraded at the GF as I have already paid the ful rack rate and hopefully if there are any AP discounts for September what I have already paid will cover the concierge price upgrade from AP rate:)

Anne,

If we have a lagoon view room booked at the Poly, the rack rate is $385 and the garden concierge is $390. Would that mean that we may be able to upgrade to concierge for $5/night if rooms are available? That would be an awesome deal IF room codes come out! Or, am I just dreaming (which happens a lot! :) )

Just thinking that breakfast with two little girls might be a lot easier doing concierge-hmmm.

In May 2002 my DW and I stayed at WL and booked concierge with our package. Randall contacted us prior to our arrival and did lots of pre-arrival planning.

In Nov. we stayed at the BC and paid for a standard room, non-concierge. We were surprised with an upgrade to concierge upon arrival (we never found out why that happened -- but I'm not one to look a gift horse in the mouth!). We had made most of our PS ourselves, but the concierge staff were great at helping with last minute changes.

As for being worth it -- the answer will vary by individual. We really enjoyed the lounge, the snacks, having breakfast there. However, we probably did not utilize it enough to balance the overall cost (well, maybe except for the BC which was "free.") Even so, we'd probably reserve & pay for it on our next trip because we had a couple of wonderful experiences.
