I've heard it's beautiful there, I was thinking of taking a trip there someday - anyone been there???

I have these images in my head of the old Bo and Hope days on Days of Our Lives (ok stop laughing guys, I watched it years ago and I KNOW how much you men love soaps - but Bo.... YOWZA!) ok off topic.....

My dd & I went several years ago. We were only able to stay over 2 nights. It is one place we would really love to go back to. We did a lot of walking and the people were so friendly and helpful.

I've been twice, but only day trips from Hilton Head. I would love to go back and explore more. We took one of the tours the first time just for an overview. I would also like to head out to Tybee Island.

We visited there last Christmas. My DH's niece lives there.
She has a boarding facility, so she can never get away.

It is a beautiful place....

I live in Savannah, what do you want to know?

Actually I don't know much about it at all, how big is it?? Is there a lot to do there - is it more bed&breakfasty, or are there a lot of hotels?

I have been really thinking about moving down south (my parents are originally from the south, so I've "got it in me"), and I know I've heard that place is beautiful.,...

how far is it from Atlanta?

If you know of a good website, I could check it out there, otherwise I'd have you write a 10-page thing about it :)

O.K..... I've lived here all my life and will try to answer as much as possible. As far as size of the city, you can drive from downtown to the other side of the city in about 30 minutes. It's comparable to the size of Charleston,SC I guess....There are a LOT of hotes, but also a lot of B&B's in the historic district. We have most of the chain hotes/motels.

It's about a 3.5 hour drive to Atlanta, and about a 4.5 hour drive to Orlando!!!

We live about 12 miles from the ocean on an outlying island. It takes about 10 minutes to get to Tybee Island. They have a lot of cute shops down there , as well as hotels and there is a pier.

As far as there being anything to do, what kind of things do you like to do? There are a lot of cultural things, museums, etc. There is a lot of history here. There are plenty of "touristy" kinds of things too, like tours, carriage rides, riverboat rides, and lots of shops on River Street....The Savannah College of Art and Design owns a lot of the buildings in the historic district, so there are a lot of art galleries that have openings showcasing the work of students...There are also a lot of parks, we have a community theater, things like that....There aren't any places to go that have rides or anything, like on the beach at Myrtle Beach,SC but then again Six Flags over GA is in Atlanta....There isn't any zoo, or waterparks (although Summer Waves water park in Jekyll Island,Ga is about 45 minutes away.). We have 2 malls, about 4 Wal-Marts in the area, a big flea market....Tell me what you're interested in, and I can fill you in more.

There are websites about Savannah....One is savannahvisit.com, another is Savannahnow.com, which gives current info from the newspaper and area news. I think maybe you could get a relocation packet from there.

The cost of living here is lower than up north, but so is pay. Atlanta has a high cost of living, a house that would be $100,000 here is about double that there or more.

Need more info, just ask, it would be great to have you!!
(Hope you like sweet tea!!!) and grits....

As a lifelong Girl Scout I get to make the trek to Savannah all the time! It is actually one of my favorite cities to visit. They have done a GREAT job maintaining thier historic district. It is a great city to walk around in and the food is wonderful!

I will be there next March!!!

We were just talking about taking another day trip to Savannah next month when we visit Hilton Head. Last time, we made it out to Ft Polaski and the lighthouse out there but we got so turned around and frustrated that we didn't get to actually see the city. We were thinking about maybe doing one of the tours. I'll definately be checking the Savannah websites. Thanks Kirsten'sMom, just the information I needed.:D

Last Christmas....on our way to WDW!

We loved it!! Did touristy things...Ghost walks..trolley tour....and shopped too! Hubby golfed..enjoyed that and I thought it was very beautiful. I loved walking down by the water on the cobblestone walkways...(River St area?) and we were 'singled out' by a spooky man for some sort of talisman made out of palm leaves to keep us safe from 'evil'! I thought the whole place charming.:D

Off topic, but I saw your pictures and it reminded me everyone here needs to go to MLB.com and vote for Javy Lopez as the starting catcher in the NL! It is an outrage that Pudge Rodriguez is starting over him, when Lopez is the premier Catcher in the entire major leagues and one of the best overall players in the world right now.
