Has Anyone Ever Accused You Of...

I have always had a naturally loud setting with my voice. I can remember my Mom telling me to "Quiet Down" when I was a little kid and my DH tells me the same thing constantly now. I don't have any hearing problems, just naturally loud.

The funny thing is that my DS4 is now the loud one and I'm constantly having to tell him to "Quiet Down".

Likewise, my nephew who is also 4 yells instead of talking. I mean everything this kid says ends with a "!". His parents took him in to have his hearing tested and it's fine. But anyone who visits SIL and BIL's house and hears SIL and BIL screaming and yelling can quickly figure out why nephew yells constantly -- it's the norm in his environment. And my nephew has only gotten louder since SIL had another baby and nephew is now a middle child, battling for attention. :confused3

I am definetly too loud. Everyone in my family thinks so. I can't help it.

I talk loud, I laugh loud, I am just a loud person.

Yes, I am the loudest and most talkative in my family. my whole childhood, i was being told to lower my voice.

I remember one day, I was telling my mom about something, and the more excited I get the louder I get. Finally my dad came out and asked if I ever stopped talking. He pointed out I talk from the time I wake up, until the time I go to bed, and for all he know I probably even talked in my sleep. :teeth:

I can't help it. I talk loud, I laugh loud. I think that is why I used to like Rosie O'Donnell so much. She is just like me!

My husband is too loud. He gives me headaches sometimes. And then he gets upset if I tell him to bring it down a notch.

New one for me this morning .... I was drinking my chocolate milk (more like gulping it down) and dh said to me "Amazing! You're even loud when you drink your milk"

Sorr, honey, I was in a hurry :confused3

Oh, yes, I have been told I talk and laugh too loud. I am losing the hearing in my right ear so I can't judge sounds, even when they come out of me! I have tried talking lower and then people can't seem to hear me at all....I just can't judge hearing/sounds any more..... :confused3

I was told I was being to loud at a soccer (football) match because I was singing. Two summers ago in Philly for the Manchester United match. It was the second time I have ever seen my team play live (The first just a few days before in Jersey) and some woman told me I was being loud.

Maybe I was rude but I told her that it is a stadium and if she wants quite there is a library down the block!

I have a few questions and I really don't want to be slammed for asking. I'm just curious. For those that know they are loud, do you ever make a conscious effort to be more quiet (without being told) so you don't disturb the person next to you? Or do you have the mindset that this is who I am and everyone can just get over it no matter where you are? Also, is there a resemblance between your loud voice and your personalilty? Do you always have to have attention? Are you always right? Are you strong willed and overbearing? I'm just wondering if that is the case with everybody or just my friends and family that talk loud? I know "quiet" people have some of those same traits, it just seems more prevalent with "loud" talkers.

Add me to the list!! I hate when peopel shush me though :confused3 :rotfl2:

See, I can't hear very well, but I am very quiet. I talk softly & people always ask me to speak up. To me, I sound like I'm talking at a reasonable/normal volume, but apparently not.

When I wear my hearing aid, I talk even softer, or else to me it sounds like I'm screaming!!

<--Very loud. My entire family is loud.

The funny thing is I work with audio and video. So when they are recording in the studio, I'm constantly reminded to use my "indoor voice" :confused3

Yep, I've been accused of having an Irish Whisper when I'm trying to speak quietly. But more often than not, I've been told my laugh is way, way too loud.

I guess that I will answer these questions since I started the thread.

Sometimes I do make a conscious effort to lower my voice because I know that I have the tendency to get loud. However, it is a subconscious thing that I don't always know that I am doing it until half way through what I am saying. When I realize it, I do try and lower my tone. Sometimes I do have the mindset that this is who I am and people just have to accept me. Especially, when I am emphatic about the topic at hand.

Is there a resemblance between your loud voice and your personalilty?

I think so. I have a very boisterous personality. I am very outgoing so there may definitely be a correlation.

Do you always have to have attention? Are you always right? Are you strong willed and overbearing?

No, I don't always have to have attention. Am I always right, most of the time:) . Am I strong willed and overbearing, I am strong willed, but I don't think that I am overbearing. I think that you will be hard pressed to find someone that would actually "know" that they were overbearing.

I have either been blessed or cursed with a voice that carries. No matter how hard I try, it sounds like I am screaming. When I worked customer service, workers around me would ask me not to talk so loud.

My assistant is incredibly loud. She'll be working in the back of the room with three students and I'll have to yell to be heard over her. It drives me nuts. One of my students (who is very oppositional) refuses to work one-on-one with her because he feels like she's always yelling. However, if you ask her to quiet down, she takes great offense. I'll just have to get through this year and request someone else next year.

not me,, i get loud occasionally but not htat often,, dd on the other hand has t hat voice that carries,, she is so loud at times ithurts. and its not her hearing she can hear me whisper from across the room,, and i will call her to come to me that way,, i'll whisper her name and come here till she does,, and then she slaps me ans says stopppppppp

I tend to yell into my cell phone. My daughter will call me and the first thing she says is, "mom, are you yelling?" She says it's okay if I am alone in my car.

I also yell into my house phone. I guess I have a thing about phones, which worries me as I spend half my working day on the phone. Probably the whole office knows all my business.

I try to tone it down, but I forget!
