Being too loud?

I am constantly being told that I am too loud. I talk too loud and I walk too loud. I can't help it, it's just who I am.

I think that I talk in a normal tone, but everyone is always telling me to take it down a notch. It drives me nuts.

As far as the walking I just walk really loud when I walk fast and when you add in hardwood floors ... well it sorta sounds like a drum beating.

So am I the only one who has ever been accused of being too loud?

Oh my goodness me too ME TOO! LOL

True story, when I was little my dad used to take me to the Minneapolis airport to watch the BIG jet planes taking off and landing. You know how loud those are?
I remember him telling me that he could hear my voice over the noise of the jet engines!! :rotfl:

I feel for you. It's really tough to tone it down. I too think it's just a part of who we are. You poor thing. LOL

You know, one of our good friends is very loud (he is Greek, but I don't think that is the problem! :) ). Anyway, it turns out he is a little hard of hearing. He needs a mild hearing aid and that is why he is always screaming. So, my advice is to get a hearing test. May help you out :confused3 Good luck.

Lol...not me (people always tell me to speak up) but my husband!! He is SO LOUD!! His voice Really carries too...I can hear him no matter where he is! The hearing test idea is a good one...

Not me! :rotfl:I am not loud at all, people always tell me to speak up. But my Sis and my Mom are Loud, and they don't get it.

Not me but my sister has a normally very loud voice. In the store, doctors office,restaurants,wherever... you can hear her voice over everyone elses. It doesn't matter what she is talking about (personal or otherwise) she is too loud in public.
And when I try to tell her to lower her voice she speaks even louder!
So I try not to go anywhere with her.
Sorry.I can deal with it most of the time but you have to know when too loud is not a good thing.
Debbie

My husband and my family always tell me I talk to loud. I just ignore them.

That is what I was thinking. I would get your hearing checked.

Me too! Are you the baby of the family? That's my problem - talking loud to be noticed.

 That's me! :wave:That's me! I'll take that as the reason I am the way that I am. Seems logical.

No, I'm normally too quiet, but I've always wondered about loud people and I hope you loud folks don't get offended by me asking this. If you're somewhere that everyone else is being rather quiet (say a doctor's waiting room), don't you notice in your environment that you're being much louder than everybody else? Like you said about walking loud, I've noticed people who it seems that every move they make is loud -- from walking to talking to rustling papers and everything in sight.

I don't know why, but I'm very sensitive to loud noises. There are times when I feel as if I'll go crazy from all the stuff going on around me and there seems to be no escape from it anywhere.

Marseeya, I hear ya. My husband never does this, but I always seem to notice people who are loud. It bugs me. Especially in places where there is no need to be loud. Like you said, the doctor's office, and whatnot.

One of my peeves is when we go out to eat, my husband is sitting next to me and I can hear the conversation of someone 3 tables down from me and I can't hear my husband. GRR!

I always try to be aware of my surroundings and make sure none of my behaviors are bothering anyone. I would definitely want someone to tell me if I was being loud, or was starting to be loud. I wouldn't dismiss it.

I don't have a problem hearing my husband. :rotfl: He's a singer and has a big booming voice. He's very sensitive about it, though, and definitely wants me to let him know if he starts raising his voice. I usually signal it by touching him on the leg or putting a finger to my lips if we're across the table.

We have one or two people in our office like this. I don't think they mean to be so loud, they just have loud voices. It's tough because we are in a cubicle situation. I have a guy who is 3 cubes down from me. If he is on a phone conversation and then I get on my phone, I can hardly hear myself or the person I'm talking to. Usually the person on the other end of the line will say "what is going on there?"

I can get too loud, but I learned from my mom. She can drown out a fire siren.

If I am in a Doctors office I am usually alone so I don't talk at all, but if I am with my sister and she tells me :ssst: than I will lower my voice. As for the ones who suggest hard of hearing, hardly, I hear everything. Example: I can hear my oven click off when up to temp from the back of the house, I can also hear water boiling in a pot on the stove from the back of the house.
Also loud noises bother me something terrible, I even had to wear ear plugs in Disney because the shows and what not are to loud for me.

I am just a loud person, always have been from childhood, nothing changed just because I got older.

YOu remind me of an old boss of mine. He had a very deep voice and I can't imagine him whispering with a quiet voice.

My grandpa worked in the Detroit Car Factory before unions and he went about deaf. So guess what? My grandma had to scream so he could hear. So my dad is loud because of it and so on.....

I have always spoken loud. It's just me. i don't do it on purpose and I don't realize I am speaking loud. When people tell me I'm talking too loud it drives me nuts and makes me want to talk louder. My hearing is fine, I just have a loud voice.

rather its size, vioce or personality I stick out where ever I go, sometimes thats good sometimes not so good
