The Spirit of Aloha??? We have a PS for Nov. I haven't read any posts that have been positive:( Has anyone enjoyed themselves??:wave2:

DW & I went to the show in April & had a good time. The story line seemed kind of lame, but really enjoyed the dancing & costumes. Having read the bad reviews, we were surprised at how much we liked the food. The bread, salad, chicken & grilled veggies were all very good. Before this, we last went to the Luau around 1996 & found the food much better now--although we did miss the fruity drink (mai-tai?) they used to serve!

 BagerBruce , you seem to be the only one who has enjoyed Spirit of Aloha- oh well. We'll give it a try anyway. Thanks

Despite the so-so reviews, we are going to give it a try in 2 weeks. We did Hoop-de-Doo last time and want something different.

No he's not!

It's one of those shows that you must see at least once! Make sure you can get to the later show so that the Fire Show part will look "Awesome" as DD says!

We went last August. DD and I wore matching Mickey Hawaian Dresses and the Picture is one of our Best!

Try It and go with an open mind.

Food was just ok for us but we did enjoy show and thought we got our moneys worth.::yes:: :wave2:

I agree it is something that every serious WDW fan should see once. I will reiterate the sentiment that the show is great and the food is so-so. I have seen it once and am happy to keep it that way.

We absolutely loved it! We had front and center seats. We thought the food was better than Ohana that nite. Moist and flavorful chicken and ribs, great sides and all you can drink beer and wine. The show was entertaining. Some people complain about the food, but everyone has to understand, sometimes restaurants have off days. I have experienced this only to return to the same restaurant and have an exceptional meal. SOA is a must see.

We attended in July and agree that the storyline was pretty much contrived, but the dancing was FABULOUS! We wish they would just do away with the storyline and stick to the dancers (hee hee, let's just say there was MUCH for us ladies to appreciate and my hubby wasn't too upset either! LOL My 5 -year-old thought the dancers were SO COOL!). Food was good; as fors ervice....well, let's just say one of our family jokes coming home was how grumpy the CM who served us was.....not sure if she was just having a bad night and we are NOT the types who are overly picky about service, but MAN, I think it WOULD have KILLED her to smile! No Disney Magic in her that night! LOL! Go! It will be fun!

Show was ok, food was poor. I would never go again unless someone we were traveling with had their heart set on it.
(Not to mention the heat and bugs! Ugh!) I recommend Ohana as a better quality lower priced alternative.

 I stand corrected!!;) Yah some people have enjoyed the Luau! We do have a PS for the 8pm show. Thanks everyone:wave2:

Call me crazy but I enjoyed it. The food was good I thought. I enjoyed the salad, rice and ribs. Dessert was too sweet. The show was okay too, I liked the fire twirlers the best. I love the Polynesian Resort and Hawaiaan themes so maybe that's why I enjoyed it so much. Try it once.
I know everyone loves the HoopdeDo but I don't think I would like it, go figure!

Of course, the last time I was there was 10 yrs ago on my honeymoon (I can't believe it's taken us this long to get back to WDW!)

I don't remember exactly how the food/show was, but I know that I had wanted to go to the show b/c I had remembered it from childhood trips ... and I was NOT disappointed. I don't know if they still do this, but when we went, they get audience participation by asking "who is having a b-day? anniversary? etc." So if you're celebrating something, it's a real "must-do".

Since I've been frequenting these boards, I've been surprised at how much "bad press" the Luau get. IMO, it's one of those unique experiences that makes WDW what it is!

We did the Spirit of Aloha show in Dec. 2002 & 2003 and really loved it. We went with different couples each time and they really enjoyed it also. I thought the food was very good for the type of meal that is served. I would say for you to give it a try.
