Has anyone else heard this rumor re: refrigerators?

I just spoke with the front desk at WL. Told him that our arrival was October and asked about fridges. He said that all of their rooms now have them installed at no additional cost. Yippee! :bounce: :bounce: :Pinkbounc :Pinkbounc Nothing like getting a freebee from WDW!

Awesome ! We're headed to the WL 9/11 - 9/15 ! & it is great news that the refrigerators are already in. If only they would be installed at the AKL for the 2nd half of stay 9/15 - 9/19 then it would be perfect !!

Wonder if CBR has them installed yet? My DD 9 is on antibiotics (her and a boy in her class ran into eachother during PE and his frontteeth made huge holes in her forehead :( :( :( , had to take her to the ER and get it patched up)
Anyways her medicine has to be stored in the refrigerator..Now I can just see all our pictures from WDW this time, her forehead with bandaid on or without bandaid with two front teeth marks :(
And it will probably leave a scar too, the boy had no problems afterwards...go figure.

Please let me know

cnids00-I think if you have medication that needs to be refrigerated they give you a fridge for free anyway. I would call and ask. :)

we just returned from the Poly and even though the refrigerators were not officially installed yet, we requested a refrigerator for our room a day before we arrived and we were not charged for it. It was great. The CM at CRO was not able to tell me that the fee would be waived, she said it was up to the hotel. I just asked to have the fee waived when we checked in and it was granted with no problem.

Hi, cnids00!

I sure hope they have the free fridges in by the time you go! At one time, Disney didn't charge anyone who needed a fridge for medical reasons and they were all dorm size fridges. This became a problem when everyone had medical reasons, and so they started charging everyone for a fridge no matter what.

Now there are three different sizes (regular dorm size with a small freezer, smaller, thinner fridge with space for about a row of pop cans and no freezer and a little one about the size of a shoebox for medications), which one you get depends on what the resort has available, as we've gotten all three at different times.

Hope this helps!

WL already has them installed? Yahooo!!! That is terrific news.
I will be a happy camper with cold water to drink !! :drinking1

Cold Bottled Water for me! There's another thread about how bad the tapwater tastes on this board. Makes me wonder why they have all of the water fountains in the parks?! We usually try to pack a couple of 6 packs of Dasani when we go. When we were at the Contemporary in June I found myself having to put them in a small softside cooler that I had used during the drive down. Ice would be melted by the time we came back from the room but at least we'd have cold decent water to drink. This really makes my night. Now if only my MNSSHP tickets and correct reservation confirmations would arrive in tomorrows mail.................... :bounce: :bounce:

Anyone know if the fridges are in at the BWI? Headed there 9/11-9/18. Cold bottled water on a hot, humid day......:hyper:

Very good news...we were going to do the ice in the sink thing instead...this is such a gift...champagne here we come! Well, OK, and water or diet cokes too if we MUST be good sometimes!

Will quit trying to tweek the trip plans from this point on ...time to get packin'!

To answer a previous poster's question - the fridges ARE empty!! And regarding someone else's post about storing antibiotics - we requested a fridge to store breast milk and were told it would be free - no issue. So you can just mention the antibiotics if you want to be sure to get one for free!

"Just a note..... over on the DVC board there are those of us who think some posters have a "finacial" motive for posting about how great DVC is. They seem to run a business renting thier points. Just food for thought."

::yes::

As a DVC owner who still does quite a few nights in the Resorts, I am thrilled!!!

We can always use a fridge--and we still LOVE our DVC--2 bedrooms and full kitchen and washer/dryer plus a living room--can't top that with 3 kids!!!

Thanks Jenn Lynn & Figaro!

I haven't called to ask, I believe you ask when at check-in..I also thought keeping it in a bucket of ice should keep it cold. DD got a 10 day dose, thankfully she was up to date on shots, no Tetanus-shot needed.

Ok, so now all that can go wrong is for Hurricane Frances to visit our favorite world and all the people living around..Hopefully NOT!

Frances...go away!!!!!

Just got back and rented a fridge and housekeeping said that they were now going to be std. in all rooms. Not sure if they are raising the rates. I hope not. The initial output of the cost for Disney is one thing, but to continue to make money night after night on it would be outrageous. Currently they have to get housekeeping to lug them in and out. I am sure they appreciate the change, too. Still, having a fridge in the room is a big convenience. I haven't stayed at a resort unless I have one.

That's awesome. DH is diabetic, so not having to request a fridge for his insulin is always a plus.

Just back from a Cont Tower stay (home on August 27) and I requested a fridge at least a month ago and was told it would be $10 a day.

I switched from BWV to Cont last Tues and there was no fridge in the room so I called Housekeeping and they brought it in a matter of minutes.

After reading this thread I realized that I was NOT charged the $10 a day!!!! I didn't even realize it until now.

GREAT news even for this DVC owner. I LOVE the GF and Cont.:teeth:

Yep, I was in the Poly from aug 21-28. There was a fridge outside in the hall on our 2nd day. I called housekeeping and asked if there was a charge for a fridge. They said no, and we said, well there's one in the hallway, can we take that one, and they said sure. So free fridge the whole stay! So if it's not in there yet, ask!!!
