I feel like such a moron!

DH and I purchased our 3 day Universal/IOA tickets from Costco several months ago, and managed to not lose them yet. Then we go down for 1 day last week, and I left mine in my back pocket and just realized today that it was washed. I pulled what I thought was a washed receipt, and then had a horrible thought as I gently unfolded it and saw the Universal logo.

I started crying right away, because it was like throwing away a $100 bill. I called guest services, and the guy I spoke to was really nice. He told me to hang on to whatever scraps I had and the next time we visit, present the scraps with my husband's ticket and Costco receipt and they would see what they could do.

The problem is...I don't know exactly when we will go back! We have until the end of 2014, so it's not like there was a big rush or anything. There's a very *slim* chance we might go down to WDW this spring, and perhaps we could hop over to Universal and get this taken care of.

Okay...here's my question....has this ever happened to anyone else? How long until you realized what happened and were able to physically go to guest services for help? And finally...what was the outcome?

I'm so afraid that policies will change over the next few months, and whatever they told me today may not be the case in the future. But I would think that Costco would have a record of which tickets they sold to us, and they can easily see that my husband's (who is obviously more careful than I am) ticket has only been used once. Ugh....I'm just so upset that I would be so forgetful... :sad2:

don't worry about that.
do not be upset.

universal is excellent in working with guests that have gone thru the same thing you have.

the tickets are valid until they expire. period...

i still have tickets from '96 that are valid.

people that order tickets to pick up at the kiosk years from now, will recieve valid tickets.

i highly doubt that policy of universal's will ever change.
your Cosco tickets will be valid until the expiration date on them.

But the scraps of my tickets are just that - scraps. You can clearly see the Universal logo, and that's about it. There's a tiny, faded portion of the barcode, but there aren't any visible numbers and you certainly can't scan it.

DH keeps telling me that it will be fine, and I really want to believe him because the man from Universal guest services was really super nice about it. We do have a receipt from Costco for two tickets, 1 fully in tact ticket, and 1/3 of a faded scrap of paper you can tell used to be a ticket. I'm really hoping and praying the believe our story when we eventually go back. But until then, I'm going to worry about every time I think about tickets, Universal, Florida or do laundry.

One good thing to come out of this: I know I'll be check EVERY pocket before I toss anything in the wash again!!

i hear ya on checking pockets before tossing clothes in the washer.

my cell phone has taken many baths...........

you have the receipt from cosco on buying 2 passes.
you have your husbands ticket which has the bar codes.
you have parts of your ticket........well, tissue parts that is.

you call and reported it to guest services.
you wrote down the name of the TM, the date and time you made that call.

easy peasy.

when you return to UO, go to guest services.
give all the above info to the TM.

the TM can see in the files the dates the passes were activated.
they can see when you used the passes in the past and have not used them since.

it will be fine.

perhaps you should tape the scapes of paper you do have on an index card.
put it some order so you can see the UO logo on the card.

lock that index card away.
do NOT put that card in any pockets............
