Has anyone eaten Gluten Free in the parks recently?

Hi all!

I am traveling with my youngest celiac (14 years old) in November and its been about 2 years since I've been there with her and I'm sure menus have changed. Was wondering if anyone has eaten somewhere in the parks that had a good gluten free selection recently or even just found 1 really yummy thing!

We did the BBQ last time and she doesn't want to do it again as we ate way too much meat and the tummy wasn't happy! LOL!

Has anyone done Carthay Circle or BB gluten free? Wondering what would be served. Don't want to make a ressie, get there and then them not be able to accommodate her.

Dd8 has celiac. So she's still eating from the kids' menu. IIRC, she had good luck at the garden/pasta place at DCA, Cafe Orleans, & Carnation Cafe. She had a turkey leg one night. And I'm completely blanking on where else we ate! Lol! Good luck!

I was there in July and was happily surprised with the options. As always the chef comes out to discuss options. The BB was no exception - they had gluten free dinner rolls to go with our meals. Goofy's Kitchen and Storyteller's both gave me a list of what I could/could not have and offered the GF waffle option (they take forever in both places mind you). I ate most CS meals down on the pier - Lucky fortune being my favourite. That was my go-to food as they have GF teriyaki rice bowl (although I only had it with the sauce once as it upset my tummy - not sure why). We loved loved loved the Mexican food options in DL at Rancho del Zocalo. Hungry Bear makes a delish burger (GF bun).

I stay away from desserts but they have this amazing brownie at the Jolly Holiday. I think it was called oh-my-god-I-cant-believe-it-is-gluten-free. The name was fitting - never had a brownie EVER that tasted that rich, moist and good

I had no problems eating, ever. The only issue I ever ran into was you always have to talk to the chef and sometimes, there isn't one around so they have to find one and bring them to you. This happened every single time we ordered at Lucky Fortune (but it was the best for me so I waited it out while DD went and got her broccoli cheese soup in a bread bowl from the bakery).

We did BB a year ago with a GF friend. The chef came out to the table and talked about her GF options and what would be the same/different, etc. based on her order (she got the salmon.) She also did well at Bengal BBQ and Pacific Warf Cafe.

When I went to Bengal BBQ they told me there was nothing I could have - the cross contamination was way too huge there and that they highly recommended I went next door instead.

We did GF at BB and it takes a little extra time for them to cook the GF rolls but they are great about it! The chef came out and my sis didn't like the GF sauce available so the chef made up a different one just for her.

The GF pizza at Pizza Port was really good, it just takes a little time to prepare so I recommend going about 10-15 minutes early and have family join you a little later.

Had no idea Lucky Fortune had GF terayaki bowls...dd8 will be thrilled when she finds out!

Unless this is a very recent change, the only GF option at Lucky Fortune is the yuzu sauce. It is off menu and you have to ask for it. I will say that that is the one location where the person at the register was unaware that I could request the ingredient book or that they even had the yuzu sauce. But if someone wants to try again to check the teriyaki ingredients I'd be interested in the current answer.

Carthay doesn't have a dedicated GF or vegan menu option because they say that the chef will make a dish based on the ingredients available that day. If you note on your reservation then it should be accommodated. I assume the experience at BB would be similar to what happened at Carnation, which was we had to wait for someone to come out explain what could be altered. They had GF hamburger bun but my friend opted to order the burger wrapped in lettuce.

Jolly Holiday also has some GF desserts that are not in the case, you can ask what's available that day.

Thanks everyone. If anyone gets an update on the teriyaki let me know! It was yuzu only when I was there last so if that has changed my little girl would be very happy!

Awesome! Thanks so much. I was on that thread 2 years ago and it was outdated then so I took a look and decided to start a new one to see if any one had recent experience. I like the lists on the OP of that old thread through - feels like it at least gives me a starting place.

Anything with soy sauce in it (like teriyaki) most likely has gluten in it. That put that stuff in everything!

Yeah soy or teriyaki sauce is a no. But there is GF soy & teriyaki sauce I've gotten at whole foods. Was wondering if that's what they had? I've never heard of yuzu.

DD(5) and DS(9) are both Celiac and I second both of these. We did BB for DS's birthday and he had gluten free pasta. We did have to discuss and order with the manager because there wasn't anything on the kids menu that he could have (I realize you won't be eating off the kids menu, but just for reference...) We had no issues at all with having something put together for him. And he was really excited that he could have the rolls. They did bring them the veggies, but told them that the ranch dressing was not GF. Interesting because my DD had just had it the day before at AG where they said it was ok. So, be sure you question it if you get the ranch (not sure who was right).

And those brownies ARE really good. We did a tour and since they couldn't confirm that the treat was GF, they gave us coupons for all of the kids to get the GF brownies and my non-Celiac DS(7) gobbled his up as well.

OK, I am clueless.....what is BB and where is Carthay Circle. We are going in arch of next year and I am trying to plan. I have heard good things about WDW and dining but am apprehensive.

Hmmm…neither restaurant are at WDW but at Disneyland. Hope that's what you are meaning. BB is Blue Bayou and is the restaurant inside Pirates of the Caribbean. Carthay Circle is in DCA. Both are full service restaurants and are a bit higher end then the other full service restaurants.

Have fun planning! Love Disney on both coasts but Disneyland holds my heart!
