Hiya,

Just wondering if anyone can give a review on any of the following restaurants in San Francisco as we are looking at them for our wedding reception (only 11 guests):

Gary Danko's
McCormick & Kuleto's
Ana Mandara
Rosa Pistola

We really liked the look of Julius Castle but they will be closed for refurbishments.

TIA,
Gaspodé

Nope, sorry, we returned every evening to the same restaurant at Pier 39, 37, what number is it?
We are so boring, lol!

I think its Pier 39 :)

Which restaurant is that? (You obviously liked it!!)

Cheers,
Gaspodé

We didn't try any of those restaurants. We were only there 3 nights prior to a cruise & ran out of time. The city's definitely on our must return list. Anyway, we did have the best meal we've ever eaten, while we were in SF. We're foodies who put exceptional dining at the top of our vacation expectations, so we've had some very good & very expensive meals. We had the tasting menu at Aqua. It's expensive, but worth every cent. I wouldn't think it would be that much more than Gary Danko's though. Congrats on your upcoming marriage. :)

I have never eaten at Danko's, but my wife did a couple of years ago and RAVED about it. Can't remember what she ate there but she loved it.

I ate at Gary Danko's last summer. It was one of the best meals I have ever had and I am a bit of a "foodie." I think it would make a beautiful place for a wedding reception of that size. I was also really wowed by the staff - they were not too stuffy - but provided excellent service.

Thanks All :)

So Gary Danko's is looking like a good choice.

I am keen on McCormick's and Kuleto's - anyone have any thoughts on that one?

Cheers Cindy I will certainly check out tripadvisor - I forgot there are restaurant reviews on there :)

i ate at McCormick's last April. It was wonderful!!!

I had a bay shrimp/brie appitizer dip that I still sigh over :)

I think the last time we were in SF, we at at McCormick's twice. It's a good seafood place. The one down here in So Cal is called McCormick's and Schmidt's...same place, different name...?

a good resource you might try is going to the kgo website. kgo radio is the top news radio station in the bay area, and one of their "on the air personalities" is 'gene burns'-he does a show every saturday morning that is nothing but restaurant reviews and "foodie information"-i think their website may have a link to some of the reviews he's done. if nothing else you can send an email to their staff who may be able to refer you to a local restaruant review site (sometimes reviews done by locals can provide some additional insight).

frndshpcptn & cryssi - Great thanks :) Yes I believe Kuleto's/Schmidts is same place, different name (perhaps different partners). Anyways, great to get some good reviews of the place :)

Barkley - thanks! thats a really great idea I'll check it out :)
