Has anyone done this? I'd like to book a 2BR (1BR with lock off), and then invite two separate parties. Let's say I book Sunday to Saturday but Sunday to Tuesday, my in-laws will use the studio and then Tuesday through Friday, another couple. How would this look? Obviously I'd like the sheets changed and the studio cleaned between parties. Then the second party leaves on Friday and I don't use points for a two BR on that last night but only use 1BR points.

Does this make sense? Is this doable?

I haven't done this, but I can't see why not. I often change the days the full clean/ trash and towel are scheduled. They often don't make sense as the computer does it. Last time we were there we had a full clean due the day before we were leaving. I would change the full clean to be the day the new guests arrive. The only problem would be with the last night they may ask you to move or they may be able to link the reservations.

This would work, I don't see why in wouldn't. The only problem might be if you wanted the DDP, in which case that would be attached to the names of the original occupants. But as with anything I'm sure there are ways around it....

Sounds easy to me. Just book the whole week, have the couples hand off the room keys (either to each other or at the desk) and just change the dates of room cleaning or schedule an extra day of room cleaning. As long as they dont have a credit card attached to the room key I cannot see a problem.

For what it's worth, we've had pretty bad luck with changing the schedule of full cleaning or T&T days. We've tried it on two separate trips and neither time did the cleaning/tidying happen on the modified days. On the second trip, they not only didn't do it on the modified day but skipped in on the regularly scheduled day too.

Probably just bad luck, but we don't plan on messing with changing the cleaning dates around any more.

I'd just ask the in-laws to pick up after themselves, run the vacuum quickly and make sure the dishes have all been cleaned.

Sounds to me like there are three issues: 1) the cleaning question, 2) what happens if one of the invited parties cancels, and 3) can you really only use the 1 BR for the last night without being charged 2 BR points?

The cleaning question is easily solved by paying for a full cleaning on the day you want it. What I'm not sure of is whether you can get a cleaning just for the studio part of the room. Logically, it seems like you could, but I don't know for sure.

Cancellation by either party would create a real mess, and that is something I'd think long and hard about before you commit to this particular concept.

The 1 BR/2 BR question could be resolved by making separate ressies -- one for the two bedroom for the first part, and the other for a one bedroom for the last night -- and then linking those ressies so you didn't have to change rooms.

If you plan on using DDP, your plan gets MUCH more complicated, so you'd better think that through carefully as well.

No it may not work. It's fine with changing the parties, but the last night as a one bedroom is a NEW reservation and while it rarely happens you may be asked to move depending on availablity and rooms.

We have done what you are suggesting, but with a bit of a wrinkle to it. We had originally booked a 2 bedroom lock off for ourselves and another couple for January. The other couple was staying for 5 nights, and we were staying for 10, so we booked the 2 bedroom lock off for 5 nights and the 1 bedroom portion for 5 nights and had them linked. Then as we got closer to the date of the trip, another couple (like family to us) was going to be in the area at the same time as the second half of our trip. We invited them to spend the 5 days on the pull out if they were amenable to that. Since they were camping, they thought it would be fine!! So, while we had two different couples and went from a 2 bedroom to a 1 bedroom, we didn't worry about the cleaning aspect of your scenario. The funny thing about all of this is that mousekeeping didn't close off the doors between the studio and 1 bedroom portion. We ended up locking them ourselves, and no one was ever put in that studio that second 5 nights. I'm not sure if they thought we still had the 2 bedroom or what, but on checkout day, the basket outside our door contained supplies for a 2 bedroom villa! It made me wish we hadn't locked that connecting door!

We had a 2 bedroom at OKW last March and split it between 2 groups of guests. Because we were there for 12 days, we tried to change the cleaning/t&t schedule to accommodate room cleaning/linen change between parties. Mousekeeping said it was fine but the centralized cleaning for OKW/SSR did not communicate well with the mousekeepers and it was a mess. Hopefully this won't happen for you.
I am not sure if you can technically "link" reservations for 2 different size rooms, but you certainly can request that you be allowed to stay in the 1 bedroom half and not move. I'm sure that they will honor your request if possible, since it would mean less work for mousekeeping. You did not say which resort, but if both lock-off and dedicated 2 bedroom units are available at the resort, make sure that your reservation is for a lock-off 2 bedroom.
Good luck!
