Has anyone done this with discounted MYW tickets?

I need to buy new tickets for our upcoming April trip. I have heard that if I buy discounted MYW tickets from one of the online ticket brokers (undercovertourist, ticket mania...) that I can upgrade them at WDW for an AP and get credit for the full purchase price. Has anyone done this?

I could be mistaken but I believe that you would get credit for the purchase price that you paid. Not what the tickets would have cost had you bought them full price.

I'm not sure whether this applies when upgrading to annual passes but if you use the ticket a little first, the cost of upgrading to another MYW pass is the difference between gate price of what you want and current gate price of what you had.
