Has anyone done the St Thomas Beach Day at Sapphire Beach? Is the beach real congested? Is it hard to get a chair, etc.? Is it a good day for toddlers too? How is the lunch? How does it compare to Trunk Bay? We're going in mid-June. Any insight on any of these questions would be great! Thanks....

DH and I did Beach day at Sapphire Beach in October 2001. It was a very relaxing, quiet day at the beach. We didn't have any toddlers in our group, but I think they would enjoy it. The water is quite shallow, very clear and buoyant, so fun to swim or just play in. There were lots of iguanas to watch, no problems getting chairs(lounges) to sit in, and an enjoyable lunch. ( fresh bread and rolls, cold cuts, cheese, pasta salad, chips, fruit punch (with or without rum) and cookies -- very good!) A few children in our group did some snorkeling and had a great time. Hope you have a wonderful cruise.

Our family spent a quiet, lovely week at Sapphire Bay in November of 2000. We took a taxi there during our cruise last month for a return visit. We arrived early and the beach was very quiet and peaceful. About an hour later the cruise excursions started arriving, and the beach became quite crowded. This was a Spring Break week, and there seemed to be passengers from 3 ships, judging from the different tote bags people were carrying. We moved to the pool area, which had lots of chairs and was not crowded. It was a very different experience than our first visit.
