has anyone done the character calls

We bought a package for our trip in October and it came with a character call. It will be me, my husband and our 9 year old son. This is his second trip to DL but our first staying on property. Should I bother to set up the character call? Is it more for younger kids? If you have had a character call please let me know what you thought.

It is a recorded message. You choose between some of the characters (like Mickey and Minnie, just Mickey, Goofy, etc.) and they call you saying how excited they are that you are going to visit them at Disneyland soon. You decide the day and time that they call and what number it goes to.

These are such fun phone calls. I've set up several enchanted calls for friends who are adults before they leave on vacations and they just get a real kick out of them. Some of them have even set them up for their friends. It's just a personal touch. It's a recorded message, where you choose the greeting options. We usually pick Mickey Mouse and say the message is regarding a Vacation and when they ask who is setting up this call we choose the "Friend" option as there is "Mom, dad, brothers, sister, aunt, uncle, friend etc." The message usually goes something like

"HEY PAL, ITS ME MICKEY! YOUR FRIEND TOLD ME THAT YOU WERE PLANNING A VERY SPECIAL DAY TODAY, AND THAT YOU ARE TAKING A TRIP. HOT DOG! WELL WHAT SHOULD WE DO TODAY PLUTO? WE COULD CALL MINNIE, TAKE A WALK, OR HAVE A PICNIC. WELL HAVE A GREAT DAY PAL, AND I WILL SEE YA REEEEEEEAL SOON! BYE FOR NOW"

Thanks for the info.I think that I will set up the call for the day before we flight out. I was thinking about doing it the morning we leave but that might be a crazy morning.

I'm not sure why this service can't be made free of charge, especially domestically. It's just a computer executing a task. It's not like to costs much $$.

You may qualify But if not and you can still set up a call through "Disney's Enchanted Calls website". Each call is $2.49

I grew up in North Vancouver and moved out here about 7 yrs ago.


If you book a DCL trip you get 2 free calls. I have to wait a bit and find out when I can surprise my mom with one. I need to do it close to our cruise but also when she is home. Since I've been doing all the planning she knows nothing about these calls.
