car? Good or bad experiences? Were the rates better than you could get on your own?

I've booked through Priceline several times. It's worked well when I've done it. Never tried it for Orlando though.

I check the prices via Orbitz first (they have a cool matrix thing so you see the prices for all the companies at once) and then go to Priceline and try and undercut it by a significant amount. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't. If it doesn't accept the price I offer -- then I go and book the regular way.

Never had any problem with picking up the car at the destination airport.

Hope this helps.

We did very well locally. We needed a larger car for our trip from Pa to Myrtle Beach, got a mid-size fof $28/day. When picking it up, we were offered a stationwagon for $4 more and took it. Got a Taurus SE with a roof rack which was better yet. Hertz was the company. In Orlando and for our next MB trip I used Expedia and Hotwire to scout the prices then went to the Enterprise site and got a compact for 15 days for $409.
