I really want to go to Night of Joy but my dh does not. Im trying to convince him.

I just read some reports on Deb Willis's site that make me a little nervous. Are there really that many unruly kids there?? Is it VERY crowded?? Im more interested in seeing the bands that are playing than riding the rides. Is that pretty easy to do or is it hard to see, very crowded, etc??

I haven't been in a couple of years but went many times when I was a teenager. I never noticed any out of control or unruly people but it does get pretty crowded and you have the typical behavior that comes with crowds. The best thing to do if you want to see the concerts and aren't concerned about the rides is to look at the concert schedule you will receive and then be at the stage for that concert about 20 minutes before it starts so that you can find a spot with a good view that will not put you in a position where you are being pushed and shoved by those who show up late and just have to be up front. You have to remember that you are dealing with mostly teenagers who don't always think in terms of safety. Each band/artist will have 2 or more sets during the course of the evening so you should be able to make a plan and really enjoy yourself. They have an excellent line up this year. I always had a great time when I went but I learned that the concerts are way more enjoyable if you watch them from afar instead of being right in front of the stage. It's also super hot here that time of the year and with so many people in one area it can get to be a little bit much, the concerts are all outside and the standing can get tiresome but chances are you don't want to see everyone that will be there so you can always go on a ride or sit down with a snack or something while waiting. :) You'll be fine and I think you will really enjoy it if you go. The first time I ever went to wdw was actually to a NOJ event when I was 13. :)

Another couple, my husband and myself took some of the kids from our church about 8 years ago to NOJ. It was very crowded, some kids were unruly, the bands were good. However, we swore that we would not do it again. If you are just going with your family, it may be good. We had no kids at the time and we each had about 4 kids to keep in check. They never wanted to see or do the same thing. One kid from the other adults group went somewhere on his own and we all had to wait for him.
We have a DS 7 and I wouldn't think about taking him at that age.

We go to WDW 3 to 4 times a year and that is definately something I am not willing to do with him yet.

Just my two cents.

Thanks for the answers. Its sounding like it might just be a little too much for our family. My kids are young...9 and 5 and it might not be a good atmosphere for them if there are unruly teenagers and very large crowds. I so wanted to see the bands that are playing on the 5th but I guess I will wait until they come to our city or something.

This is one tix, if offered free to me I would not take. once was more than enough. I have done MNSSHP, MVMCP, and major holiday's and they do NOT compare to our nite of joy!

Crowded, does not even descibe the word I would look for. Unruley teenagers, that does not quite cover it. Maybe if I were a 16 year old female I would of loved it but being 2 adult women, never again. And I would not take my little kids to it, afraid I would lose them in the crunch of people.

MKY

DH and I went to NOJ in 2001 and found it really crowded too. I used to run a youth group and was a bit suprised at how these kids acted and what some of them were wearing (whew.) The MK was a mess. I felt bad for the CM's (trash all over, IN the water in the rides and scenes of the rides-gross.) Too bad because the bands are fun.
