Hi- I am new here & this is my 1st post-so sorry if I am doing anything wrong.

But, I have a question about the Mickey's Grand Welcome. We are taking our DD4 (9/01-9/08) to WDW & staying at the WL. Has anyone got it before?
This was a last minute trip with lots of reasons why:
*she had a real bad recovery to her tonsil & adnoids surgery
*we actually forgot our wedding anniversary till 2wks later-so tired from her recovery
*DH & I have only been on 1 vacation in over 10 yrs-our honeymoon to Disney

So I have been saving a little bit of $ to do this special surprise for our DD & was wondering if it was cute enough for her to LOVE it?

Thanks for any input, Mary:thanks:

I can't help you, OP, about your question, but I wanted to say I hope you guys have a great time! It sounds like you all really need and deserve this vacation. Have fun! :wizard:

Oh!!! That's real nice! Thank you.

The Mickey's Grand Welcome is when the Disney florist comes in before you check in with surprises from Mickey & the gang-Mickey & Minnie Plushes, personalised throw in a box with Mickey gloves, balloons, banner, autograph book signed by Mickey, picture frame, snack bouquet, Tink's Shadow on a wall & pixie dust ( I think I that's it?). All for your little one to keep. Then, there's a smaller package. It's on the Disney website under costumize your stay. It's pricey but I wanted to know if the kid's really get that it's from Mickey himself?

I've never heard of it before (probably b/c we usually stay at Fort Wilderness in our trailer...and I don't think Mickey has the key...), but that sounds *adorable*. Shoot, I know *I'd* love it! If you can afford it, I'd be tempted to try it.

And I agree with PP -- sounds like you all really need this vacation! I hope it's extra magical for you! :goodvibes

Thanks for the good thoughts.

Not to get too much sympathy.... I forgot to say I just chipped a bone in my ankle last wed.-so now I am in big boot! Crazy thing is I fractured the same foot 3 mos before our Disney honeymoon 6 yrs ago.

I just can't wait! We are more excited the the 4 yr old!

Some of the things from the Disney florist are really expensive. If you wanted to do something special you could make up your own package for your DD. When you check in, you could have your husband come up a few minutes behind you giving you time to leave the package in the room.

They dont actually do it until AFTER you check in. They cant come into your room till YOU arrive. Personally I dont think its worth $300. I understand you all have a lot to celebrate, but I just think that is a lot of money for something you could probably do something similar to for less money yourself.

I love the DisneyFlorist and have used them ALOT! It's true, they are expensive-ish. But! I find its worth it.
i have not done this grand welcome, but I find my child (and my husband) both LOVE the gift "baskets" I put together thru WDW Florist.
here are a couple I have done

call the resort and talk to their bakery dept- I had this done at Contemporary

and here you can see the sand pail- which she loved when she opened it, and you can just see the lunch cooler in the background DH had already opened

I don't bother with the mickey head shaped basket- ask for something different. If you have an unimaginative CM, ask if there's someone there who is creative- dont be shy. Some are waaay better than others.
here are some ideas-
I have used as a base-
insulated cooler with "disney world" in characters on the front- good for a smallish gift for DH
sand pail- with coloring book, sunglasses, suntan lotion, crayons, they used a lei to tie it (I have photos if you want)
big embroidered bag- fill with all things chocolate for DH
I think they have a canvas bag now you can use.
If there's something you would really like arrange to purchase it thru WDW merchandise and then have them send it ot the florist- I think I had a supervisor's permission to do this at the florist first.
They have some great gifts- piggy banks are fun and great to take home and use.
Nice beach towels.
You can get really crazy.
If you are staying in a 2 bedroom have them do multiple baskets and ask if it's possible to put one on the table, one in the bedroom and one in bathroom.
Let the resort know what she's been thru ask if they can send a signed card from Mickey Mouse- they did this for DD without me asking when I said we were celebrating her birthday. They dont care if she technically turned 2 before the trip. They are wanting to help you have a magical trip.

Thanks for the the links & pictures. They are great!

I did call & ask them about something more princessy--they said they could work something out. I would love to do more on my own but now with my foot, I am alittle on the slow side. They closed my local Disney store here & the closest is in Manhattan-a little over an hr away. My daughter & I are always together & she has become quite the snoop!

Thank you all so much!

I'm not sure, but I think you might have misunderstood- the merchendise phone number is for items AT walt disney world- they will get them from wherever they have it in the world (often DTD) and then send it, for you, over to the florist (also on property)- you dont have to leave your armchair. ;) Just your phone.
disneyflorist can give you the number

What?????
Can that get any better????
So, the florist has the #.
Wow! I did misunderstand. Thank you.

Right!
For example, when I was there last time (08) I really wanted a particular box of chocolates that they didnt have so they told me I could call and purchase it thru the Disney merchendise phone #, who would in turn get it over to them. This was their suggestion.
By the way you can even call the merchendise line now and say you want to surprise your DD and you want a sleeping beauty gown now- you call them up and tell them what you want, pay for it and they ship it to you from WDW. They only catch to that is that it takes forever to get it. i think 4-6 weeks.

Bump...

I am calling them tomorrow & just wanted to know if anyone else has done this?

I think I want to make more from Minnie not Mickey so much & not princessey because of BBB later in the week.

Any more ideas or what to say to the florist?

Thank You!

Hi. My MIL sent my kids the Mickey's Grand Welcome on our last trip to Disney. It was very cute and the kids enjoyed the gifts. The kids still use the blanket with our last name on it and the welcome sign is hanging in our house. It is very pricey, but a very nice memory. I am looking into to doing the Memories by Betsy gift baskets for this trip. Let me know if you have any specific questions.

Thanks,
Christal

I went through Disney Florist for our trip in Sept. It is DH and myself, we will be celebrating our 37th wedding Annervasrsy. I told them everything I wanted in the basket and they will get it all arranged.
