Has anyone done character dining for this reason?

My grandfather just recently died and he and I were extremely close. He was a tall/teddy bear kind of man. Even though I'm 23 years old, part of me just wants a hug from Eeyore and Pooh because that is the closest I'll ever get to hugging him again. Plus, I think it'll just be a fun experience. Is that dumb?

That's not dumb. That's really sweet. Make sure you get pictures though that way you can always remember how you felt to hug them. It may help make things a little less sad. So sorry for your loss.

First of all i am so sorry for your loss. Second i don't think it is dunb at all, it is very sweet and i think it would be a great idea.

I think that is a GREAT idea, and you should absolutely do it if it would make you feel good. Don't know what your plans are on how to do this, but the CP meals at MK is the easiest place to find them.

I didn't have a reason like you, but have always loved the Pooh characters (my siblings use to call me Pooh Bear growing up - although I don't know why)...and obviously I love Tigger :) . It's just DH & I, and I had a great time at CP for the character breakfast, and you better believe I hugged each and every character that came our way. That is the joy of Disney. I am 45 and can still be a kid there - and no one judges you.

So - please do it. I believe your grandfather is watching over you and will be smiling when you do it.

i normally just lurk over here but had to add a comment. Pooh at CP is a lovely elegant meal and i am sure your GF would approve of you bringing his memory to this happy place.
Maybe you could leave some flowers there in his memory?
I jumped out of an airoplane in memory of my grandfather (loong war story...) it helped me get closure and I hope this works for you.
enjoy your stay and your meal.

I think it is sweet!!! People character dine for all kinds of reasons- this one is yours!

We love CP and have gone for breakfast every single trip (even before we had kids).. we love the food, we love the characters (who are just as wonderful to adults only tables as tables with children)

Have a wonderful time and enjoy your hug!!! pooh: :eeyore:

Not that anyone needs a reason to do a character meal, but yours is the most lovely reason I've ever heard! :grouphug:

Thank you all for your kind words and hugs! I can almost feel them! Hugs right back!:grouphug:

Between my husband and I-we lost 3 grandparents between Dec and Feb this year. You have my sympathy and a big hug!! How wonderful that you want to honor your grandpa, he would be proud of you!

We are taking my grandpa (who lost my grandma in Dec) with us in May. When we were kids-they were the ones who always took us to WDW. It will be a bittersweet trip, but one my grandma would be glad we took!

I am sorry for your loss. I find that I spend as much time with Pooh and friends as DS. It just doesn't get much better than a hug from Pooh, he's so wonderfully soft and loveable. I think it could be very theraputic for you, and I wish you the best. :goodvibes

I think that is a wonderful reason to see Pooh and Eeyore! I'm sorry for your loss.
