Has anyone done Black Friday at Best Buy?

I need some tips! I try to avoid Black Friday, most of the sales just don't interest me. But Best Buy has a desktop computer for $149.00, and we need 2 new desktops. So, my thought was to get there at around 3:00 and get in line. Can anyone give me tips on shopping on Black Friday? i have heard that people can be forceful and nasty. I am assuming I would have to get in, get a flat bed cart and then run around the store trying to locate where they are at. The ad says there is a minimum of 20 per store so it is worth a shot.

Any advice?

I have a theory, although I cant prove it Biblicaly. I think in Hell you will shop, and everyday it will be black friday.

You get in line and they hand out line tickets for the items you want. People line up early and there are only so many per store.

We are attempting to get the 149 too and DH plans to head to BB at 3am to stand in line.

I just drove by the local Best Buy and noticed there were about 40 cars in the parking lot, there were already people in line. The store does not open till what.. 5 am? Yeah, that's hell for me. Get there, get there early, and prepare to stand in line and fight.

I was just reading on another board that people are already lined up and have been for a few hours!!!

Good luck!!! I will head out for a few things, but staying away from BB. Unfortunately Staples is next door to BB.... parking lot will be interesting

I think people are already lining up at one of the best buys here. When we were coming home from dinner at my brothers house there was already cars in the parking lot

They had our local Circuit City on the 10pm news tonight and people were already camped out, most said they were waiting on laptops. Before the lady ended her broadcast she said that there was a similar line across the street at Best Buys. So I would think that maybe the early camper will be the winner as I suspect by 3am the line will already be pretty long.

I hooked him into BF 2 years ago and now he has to shop!

I wonder how many people will be suffering from frostbite when BB finally opens in the morning. Right now wind chills are at MINUS 5 degrees!

SHEESH! I planned to go to BB first thing in the morning for that desktop, too, but, hey....it's just an eMachine!! I'm not fightin' anybody for an eMachine, for Pete's sake!!

ALSO...if you still have BB/McDonald's bucks from their last Monopoly game, I think they are good until December so don't forget to use them!

I'm thinking it was the Today Show or something similar this morning who said that CompUSA is opening at MIDNIGHT!!

Too bad I HATE them and won't buy a thing from them again. BAD experience with a computer from them...and them STEALING my Windows disk! Where's the flaming smilie when I need it???

I was hoping I could get that laptop online, but nope...it's a store only special. I am not going there to get one, my DD does not need a laptop that badly. Ill go to the mall stores so I don't freeze my rear off.

We just drove by our Best Buy at about 8 30 pm PST, there were already people lined up for tomorrow mornings sales. I was scared to drive by wally world LOL.

Well, I got there about 11:30 and was number 81 in line. Until about 4:00am when everyone's friends and family showed up and jumped in line. Now I know why I never do BF. What a disaster! The person that got the last voucher for a desktop was 6 people in front of me. If there wouldn't of been so many people cutting in line as they were handing them out I would of got one. They had deputies there hollering that if anyone cut in line they would be arrested. No fights and no stampedes but it still got ugly around 4:55. Then when we got in the store a few of us decided to head to the line for the desktops just in case they had more then they handed out vouchers. We told 2 differant people that worked there that we didn't have vouchers and were told that we could wait in line. We waited for 2 1/2 hours, get to the front of the line and were told no voucher, no computer. At this point I was real tired and cranky (didn't help matters that 2 people that cut in and got vouchers were behind us and kept talking about how they were each getting 2 desktops). I had just had enought and came home. Sent an email to Best Buy and then fell fast asleep. Next year I think I will skip BF.
