Has anyone done a World Showcase ceremony and/or pre-reception?

WOW - thank you for this info! Why does my DFTW Sales person not tell me this when I am calling and emailing her with questions about Epcot venues!!? :confused3

I knew the Dis brides --and fans of WDW weddings ;) -- would be lots more help!

thanks so much!

Leah

I actually have to give credit to Carrie (lurkyloo) for the disney meetings advice. I believe she mentions it in her book. If you haven't checked it out I seriously recommend it! Go to the passporter site and buy the Disney Weddings and Honeymoons e-book! Totally worth it!

I am a huge fan of WDW weddings :goodvibes and I'm currently the MOH for one of my best friends DFTW (Oct 2011) so I love reading PJs and ideas!

Leah- no problem, glad you like them. If you do decide on the outdoor wedding make sure you have them put a specific place in case it rains. Ours was inside the china pavillion.

Our daughter got married outside at the French pavillion in October. The venue was very nice and I will ask her to post her pictures on this thread as well as her opinion. From a mom's point of view, here were some of the things I thought weren't so great about that particular area (and I have to preface this with saying it was unusally HOT the week she got married). By 9 am when the ceremony took place, it was already almost 90 degrees. The French venue had no shade whatsoever for the ceremony area which was in front of the fountain (Disney actually kept our guests on the air-conditioned bus for about half and hour after arrival so they would not have to sit in the hot sun). With the setup of the bride and groom in front of the fountain and the guests facing the fountain, at that time of day, the entire wedding party was facing directly into the rising sun (Lots of squinting and sweating). There was also really no acceptable place to "hide the bride"- the wedding party was huddled in a small circular park area towards the bridge, behind a concession booth and we began our procession from there. We had been told during the rehearsal (the same time the day before and it was even hotter!) thast we would not have access to the indoor area of the French restaurant for the wedding party prior to the ceremony because that area was truly owned by France and not Disney. Lucky for us the manager of the restaurant arrived early the day of the ceremony and invited us inside and allowed us to remain there until just before the guests were escorted into the ceremony area. There was really no primping area available for a bridal party and if the restaurant hadn't invited us in, we all would have been soaked through with sweat by the time the ceremony started. Just some things to consider when looking at the outdoor locations in the showcase area. The French pavilion held special meaning for my daughter and her fiance which is why they chose it but there were definitely some drawbacks which you should consider when planning your location.
