Has anyone decorated their Magic Bands? Please show us the pictures!

eiramenna, Justin is doing bands for me, too (8 bands, early January). I, too, was impressed with his feedback and the emailed conversations we've had about the designs and process.
I suppose there is some risk, but I think it's pretty low.
Hope I'm not wrong!

This thread is amazing! I joined just to comment and ask questions!

An out of town friend painted my band for me and it's gorgeous. She did it in acrylics, but hadn't heard of using a sealer on it.

I want to be sure it stays pretty and in tact. But I'm scared to seal it because I'm not artsy at all.

It's way beyond dry. Can I just go to Michaels and buy am acrylic sealer for it? Do I paint the whole band? Does it come out glossy or matte? I'm so worried!

I wish I could post my band, but I apparently need more posts!

The sealer comes in a spray can and different types will have different finishes once complete. I like the glossy myself. Just look on the acrylic paint aisle.

So cute! Are you putting a clear nail polish on top? I'm waiting for my bands to come for an oct treehouse stay and I'm excited to decorate them. I was wondering how to seal (for lack of a better word) them so the gems wouldn't pop off easily.
Also, if you put a coating of a polish all over the entire band, will it effect the functionality ?
Thanks :-)

We stayed at an actual treehouse on our 1993 stay at wdw. May I ask which treehouse you are referring to
Thanks

For those using the acrylic paints...

What kind of acrylic paints are we talking about?
Are you using the kind an artist uses, that come in a tube to squeeze onto a palette.
Are you using the kind that comes in a bottle, like I can find at Walmart in the craft section (I think the brand was Apple Barrel, or something like that)?

I have a few more bands to do, and the designs are much more intricate than the ones I have previously done with the nail polishes.
I can't imagine trying to do these ones with the polish, so I am thing about using the acrylics instead.

I used a base coat, then acrylics in bottles from WalMart (the cheapy ones... though I did buy a couple of the cool iridescent ones as well), then 2 coats of base coat to seal. We've worn them for nearly 2 weeks and wore them to Blizzard Beach yesterday with zero scratches or wear to them. :)

Did you have any issues with the paint smearing when you put the base coat over it?
We had used black acrylic paint for a MNSSHP band, and when we put the base coat over it, it smeared a little.
That is why I thought maybe people were using the artists' paints, rather than the Walmart ones.

No, I didn't have issues with smearing. I did buy an iridescent black that I used as well as a basic black and neither smeared. I did let them fully dry, usually at least an hour or overnight, before applying the base coat. The only smearing problem I had was when I used a black sharpie.

They still need a top coat, but otherwise (finally) done. A week from today, these will be on four very happy wrists!

Those are AWESOME!

Sent from my iPad using DISBoards

Thank you :goodvibes

It was my first attempt and I think I would use better quality polish or paints next time to make it cleaner. I just used whatever I had in the house and I usually buy the cheap stuff!

I'm using the plastic bag method for temporary tattoos, and overall it's working well. However, I'm noticing some fine cracks in the tattoo image. Is this from them stretching when I remove them from the plastic? Any suggestions to avoid this? TIA

Those are very nice. I like the layout and how all four match that way. May steal the image for a Marie band in the future or Figaro. Cheers!

I'm would love to hear some feedback from those that have tried using a sharpie. I know I've seen posts from some that worked and some that smeared. If you were able to make it work can you please tell me how??

Following. Planning to do some quick edging with a fine point Sharpie paint pen.
Dont want to screw them up as they're our first and only bands.

Use the Sharpie over the top coat or nail polish. It will smear if you put any lacquer or polish over it.

Ours have held up well. The first ones I did last December only showed minimal cracking after this last trip, so had used them on about 5 trips, and the last one we were in the waterparks almost non-stop. When we got home, I slapped another clear coat on top, touched them up, and they look great!

Thanks! I "borrowed" the style from someone on Pinterest who posted a lot of that center section of the face ones. I can draw, but I figured the less ground to cover and less small details, the better. Marie was actually the easiest one for me.

Here is my latest addition to my decorated band collection

i sincerely love this its like a fish scale in my opinion! its the best I've seen on this thread (I'm incredibly picky) i wish i had talent to do this to my band omg the blue just makes it even better!
