Has anyone decorated their Magic Bands? Please show us the pictures!

Those of you who used stickers, did u do a layer of base coast then sticker then base coat on top? I'm not planning on coloring the band but do want to add stickers, some nail decals and then super glue some rhinestones. Just curious if I need to use base coat on the band before placing the stickers and decals.

I went simple with bands for our trip starting this weekend. I was impressed that my DH was willing to go along with any decorating, so I didn't want to overwhelm him! I liked the idea of the mickey/minnie theme. I just used acrylic paint, and the bow is a nail sticker. A coat of clear polish over my DH's mickey head, but nothing on mine (yet).

Has anyone done a Christmas Themed magic band for MVMCP?

I did a practice band. I think this will take you straight to my post. http://www.disboards.com/showpost.php?p=52419354&postcount=2610

For the real thing, I'm going to do the black strand thinner, do the lights bigger, and not put the snowflake dots on there. I would also love to figure out a place to add holly because I think the berries look like a hidden mickey, but the band already looks crowded to me.

We just did our tonight! I used base coat polish, nail art decals and super glued in the rhinestones! :)

I did mine Christmas themed for MVMCP. As soon as I can figure out how to post a pic I will.
I had a green band so I used white sharpie paint pens to color the mickey head white and make white stripes over the band. Then used red to color the inside of the mickey head and put a thinner red stripe inside the white stripes so it looks like candy cane stripes. Then I found a red and white confetti nail polish that I used on the whole thing. It sounds a lot busier then it actually is I swear!

I asked someone to pick up a bottle of the OPI base coat for me, and they got me the Nicole for OPI base coat instead (the less-expensive sub-brand). Just as good? Or is the regular OPI that much better?

I cannot remember the brands that I used other than Sally Hansen Diamond Base/Top coat, but I know that the brands were not the name brand expensive ones that I use on my own nails. They held up beautifully. My bands were very simple when compared to the designs on this thread, but the basics were the same. Base coat, several coats of glitter (I used two different glitters on each band in order to get the effect I wanted) and then a few coats of base on the top. I am not sure that the price of the polish matters.

When you painted the magic bands, were they flat or bent around something? Im going to start soon!! Thanks :)

I've just been using whatever the cheapest is that I can find. It's worked just fine.

Definitely keep them in a rounded shape. If you paint them while flat it will crack when they are put on around your wrist.

Quite awhile ago I picked up some stickers that will be like Christmas lights that I will probably use for our Christmas themed bands.

Hi everyone! I am looking for opinions I am doing a Christmas theme band for both my mom and I will have a tree and wreaths and some lights. But I do not know what color to do the background :confused3 and suggestions?

I'd say something light but I'd be looking to put polish on the whole band. Like White or light blue or pale green. Although black could be striking too.

Hello, just wanted to get this information out to all my fellow non-artists :). I've been anxiously waiting to decorate my MBs since I first came across this great thread but having no artistic talent to speak of, I was a little disappointed that I was going to have to settle on something more simple. Then I came across a website previously posted on this thread - magicyourbands(dot)com. I was lucky enough to come across a glitch in their system and ordered a halloween one for free (and they honored the order, unlike other online places I've shopped with). I love how easy it is to apply the cover and how well it covers and looks. My DH, who was refusing to let me decorate his MB previously, even asked for one for his MB. I was able to order custom designed band covers - technically vinyl stickers I believe - that I created on my computer in a program I have similar to Adobe Photoshop and upload to their system and order, all for about the same amount I would have spent on supplies anyways. They also have some pre-designed options that are nice. The added bonus to me is that I was able to create two different covers, one for everyday and another for the MVMCP and I will be able to change them out when I want, all using the same initial band. I am waiting on my covers (shipped within 3 days of order) and then I will post pictures, but I wanted to get the word out in case anyone else wants to check them out.

Just picked up a couple of bottles of glow in the dark nail polish at Target, on Halloween clearance. It was actually back by the remnants of the Halloween items, but all that was going pretty quick. I got a sinful colors and a no name halloween nail polish. I figure that would give me plenty to do multiple coats. :thumbsup2:
It's taken me weeks to make it through this thread, I'm LOVING all the ideas. No idea what I'm going to do yet, but I have a month until I get my bands.
