Has anyone celebrated a birthday at Akershus?

As her 4th birthday present, we are taking our dd to WDW in February. We want to celebrate while we are there, and I am considering ordering a birthday cake for her while we are having lunch with the princesses at Akershus (we already have the ADR). I was wondering if anyone had celebrated a birthday at the Akershus lunch and how it went? Was it just mayhem to begin with and adding a birthday celebration would have pushed it straight into chaos? Or was it totally worth it because of the look on your child's face as she celebrated her birthday with the princesses?

Thanks!!!!

Happy early Birthday to your princess

I'll be celebrating my 50th birthday at Akershus lunch in Nov

Happy early birthday to you, too! I'll have to remember to ask you what the birthday celebration was like there. :)

They don't really have a celebration at Akershus for birthdays. Your daughter MAY get a card signed by the princesses and MAY get a birthday cookie in the shape of viking horns that says 'happy birthday' on it in Norwegian. There is no singing or anything like that. The princesses can wish her happy birthday and ask how old she is. But I can't say for certain that any of these things WILL happen as it's not required at all to do anything for birthdays. So what actually happens can vary. But if you ordered a cake then that will be special. And she will be with the princesses and you can't beat that.
Hope her birthday is magical!princess:

I am hoping to celebrate my birthday here this October as my birthday is the day before we leave and this is our first ADR, hope to order a cake nearer the time.

Oh, I wasn't thinking anything like the princesses singing happy birthday or anything! I don't have any expectations that Disney would do something special for it. Mostly I was thinking that I would order a cake (probably with Jasmine on it), and we (her family, I mean) would sing happy birthday. But I guess I was curious as to whether (1) one child having a special cake in a setting that will undoubtedly be teeming with other children would cause heartache for the other kids (and for that reason, maybe doing this at a different restaurant would be a better idea), and (2) whether my dd would be so utterly distracted by the princesses that she would have a hard time focusing on the cake/family celebration (and for that reason, maybe doing this at a non-character meal would be a better choice).

Thanks for any thoughts you might have!

Hi
We were there on August 24th for lunch and we celebrated my brother's DGD's 4th birthday. They brought her out a cupcake with a candle in it and we sang to her. She really looked suprised!!

We celebrated my DD's 5th there. She was totally in awe of the princesses and barely was able to eat. They will give you a nice card that is signed by the princesses (and it looked like real "fresh" signatures not a pre-printed card) and we got the cupcake. That was pretty much special enough. You may want to do the cake somewhere for dinner. All my DD wanted for dinner was pizza from room service!! Enjoy!
