Hi - we are sailing on a 4 night in October. We have a couple personal things going on and are deciding if we should still go. We did purchase the DCL insurance but I don't think it's "cancel for any reason" insurance. I'm going to call DCL and investigate it but was interested in others' experiences. I'm also wondering if DCL would let us move to another sailing?? Thanks!

DCL offers a 75% "cancel for any reason" future cruise credit. I think you have to submit a claim to the insurance first and get denied but I'm not 100% sure.

Above is correct about the travel insurance purchased through DCL. The credit from DCL has a limited time period for use (1 year from...date of cancellation? date of original cruise? I'm not sure.) The credit would be 75% of whatever is NOT refunded by DCL, based on the penalty table below (assuming closed-loop from US port and non-concierge). It isn't full penalty yet for an Oct. cruise. You may or may not be within the 50% penalty phase depending on your cruise date; if outside that it would be 20% deposit (regardless of the deposit amount you actually paid).

I think you are few days short of just losing the deposit.

If you do cancel what are they currently offering as new booking price? Can you pick up a GTY? Not in October I’m sure, but have you looked for other times that might fit your budget and calendar?

We cancelled Spring of '22 15 days before our cruise due to family issues. Our TA said to give her a date - any date - for a substitution so I gave her the same timeframe in '23 and she was able to re-book without us losing anything. She was even amazed. The previous booking was on the old passholder system which included the 10% discount and OBC. I figured we'd lose everything but sometimes life doesn't give a choice so DCL's accomodation was very appreciated.
