Has anyone booked United through Expedia before?

Hi

We flew with United in 2012 and I said we would never fly with them again because they separated my whole family. My kids were sitting with complete strangers by themselves.

I am looking for Direct flights but they only airlines that do them for San Fran-NY, NY - Orlando & Orlando to San Fran are United, I can get them quite cheaper on expedia but I'm afraid if we do it through expedia I wont be able to allocate my seats, does anyone know if you can allocate seats through expedia/

If not I will book them through my travel agent.

We did this a couple of years ago, and yes we were able to select our seats. We were given a booking reference and we were able to log in directly on United website and manage our booking just like any other. This was a couple of years ago now though, so can't be 100% sure it still works the same way.

We've booked a few Qantas flights through Expedia and never had any problems. We've always just been able to log on as normal through the Qantas site and manage our booking from there.

When I booked our international Virgin flight to the US through an online agent (sorry, can't remember who right now) I was told that I had to book the seats through Virgin. When I called Virgin I was told that they couldn't book seats, our travel agent needed to. After quite few phone calls, we finally got Virgin to book them for us. Maybe call United and ask just to clarify.

Thanks everyone, I ended up going through my travel agent friend was an extra $60 but gives me peice of mind that she will let me know of changes and she has booked the seats for me.
